A 17-year-old Dutch girl was legally allowed to kill herself using euthanasia after she was raped at age 14 and spent years battling depression, according to a report Tuesday.

I know...I had several older sibs, and had to listen to their programs. I was freaked out by “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” And “the Beast With Five Fingers.” I wanted to quit piano lessons.
The rapist should now also be charged with murder.
Also, mental health issues are no reason to end one’s life. Hell, I have been seriously ill since I was a child, was on dialysis during my prime years, got a kidney, and still have too many health problems to function normally, but life continues. While I understand that rape is not the same, I suffered depression for a long while due to many factors, and despite wanting to give up, I couldn’t justify my psychological state as a good enough reason to do it.
Anyone with mental health issues in the US is considered unfit to make rational decisions, and this is a great example of that. Clearly, she did not receive sufficient treatment or support.
Just.. Tragic.

I have. Where did she claim to have been raped by Muslim immigrants? She says she was molested twice at ages 11 and 12 at parties and then raped at age 14 by two men. She never filed police reports.
This whole story smells like fake news.

For what should be a monumental story, there is very little corroboration, other than a (now deleted) Instagram message.
Either way, as someone else suggested, she appears to have been mentally ill.
I think any “doctor” who signed-off on this is mentally ill, as well - and a murderer.

Old people with terminal cancer is one thing.

Half the ####ing board and most of the US would be dead if they killed themselves over an episode of depression.
Break ups, divorces, financial loss..a lot of other things can cause a bout.
Most are minor and go away quickly. Some don’t.
Rape is very difficult to deal with.
I know a woman who was molested from 5 to 18 and THEN raped and she is 36 and won’t let her past destroy her.
Over there she’d have been dead already.

Completely buy that theory. Every therapist I have ever know in personal life has been a little goofy. Also psychiatrists and kids of psychiatrists.
