This passed on by an old friend. Come on Trump haters, PUSH for impeachment “PLEASE”.

*****
Part 1:
I have a degree in Political Science, and I am a card-carrying Libertarian. I’ve been studying politics and political history for the past 30 years. My specialty is U.S. Presidents. That said, I hope that the House of Representatives impeaches Trump. Let me tell you what will happen next.

1. The House can pass articles of impeachment over the objections of the Republicans, and refer to the Senate for trial.

2. The Senate will conduct a trial. There will be a vote, and the Republicans will vote unanimously, along with a small number of Democrats, to not convict the President. Legally, it will all be over at that point.

3. However, during the trial, and this is what no one is thinking about right now, the President’s attorneys will have the right to subpoena and question ANYONE THAT THEY WANT. That is different that the special counsel investigation, which was very one-sided. So, during the impeachment trial, we will be hearing testimony from James Comey, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Donna Brazille, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Christopher Steele, Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Clapper, and a whole host of other participants in this whole sordid affair and the ensuing coverup activities. A lot of dirt will be dug up; a lot of truth will be unveiled. Finger pointing will occur. Deals will start being made, and suddenly, a lot of democrats will start being charged and going to prison. All this, because, remember, the President’s team will now, for the first time, have the RIGHT to question all of these people under oath - and they will turn on each other. That’s already starting.

4. Lastly, one more thing will happen – the Senate will not convict the President. Nothing will happen to Trump. Most Americans are clueless about political processes, the law, and the Constitution. Most Americans believe that being impeached results in removal from office. They don’t understand that phase 2 is a trial in and by the Senate, where he has zero chance of conviction. Remember, the Senate is controlled by Republicans; they will determine what testimony is allowed — and **everything** will be allowed, including: DNC collusion with the Clinton campaign to fix the election in favor of Hillary, the creation of the Trump dossier, the cover up and destruction of emails that very likely included incriminating information. They’ll incriminate each other for lying to the FISA court, for spying and wiretapping the Trump campaign, and for colluding with foreign political actors, especially George Soros. After the Senate declines to convict the President, we will have an election, and Trump will win. It will be a backlash against democrat petulance, temper tantrums, hypocrisy and dishonesty. Even minorities will vote for Trump, because, for the first time, they will see that democrats have spent 2+ years focused on maintaining their own power, and not doing anything at all about black murders in Chicago, homelessness, opioids, and other important issues that are actually killing people. And, we will spend the following four years listening to politicians and pundits claim that the whole impeachment was rigged somehow.

Are you sure that is correct as a matter of procedure?

I’m not denying that is the case, just asking the question.

It seems there have been so few trials in the SEnate that the rules might not be set in stone.

I know Rehnquist wrote a book about it....which was sort of cool in that he became sort of an expert, then presided over Clinton’s trial.

But beyond that, I have no knowledge only questions :)

Have you by chance read Rehnquist’s book? Perhaps it illuminates this issue?

Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible? Is it likely?

And don’t forget that McConnell promised a speedy trial in the Senate.

I’ve been saying this for months. Impeachment is the best thing for Trump. It’s the only way he can actually get the truth out without looking like he’s trying to get even with his enemies. By doing it on the defensive, it allows him to get the truth out in such a way the MSM can’t filter too.

during the trial, and this is what no one is thinking about right now, the President’s attorneys will have the right to subpoena and question ANYONE THAT THEY WANT.

It's not going to work that way. It's not a real trial in a judicial sense. The Senators will still act as Senators and vote on everything prior to it being allowed.

Read this website's description of the Clinton impeachment and trial to see how the Senate behaved during the trial portion, and then see if President Trump would have free reign to call witnesses.

Spygate leads back to the former mafia-connected ruling regime in Italy doing the bidding of Hillary Clinton where it was planned that a hack would be made of Trump campaign servers to plant Hillary’s classified emails with a falsehood that the emails were obtained from Russian intermediaries (Mifsud, not his real name and not a Russian agent). The plan was to follow with charges against the Trump Campaign and Trump himself of treason thereby forcing him to step down.

The emails to be planted came from Obama’s White House executive suites meaning Obama himself. Obama knew and was involved. Several motivations were evident with a major factor to ward off scrapping the Iran Deal which involves countless billions in payouts to Western players one of which is Italy.

All the above is coming out and ties to impeachment talk. The plan above failed and the coup plotters know they will be exposed. Impeachment is planned as a counternarrative to the unleashing of the failed coup.

The coup plotters have nothing left except to sow confusion in the hope of giving the progressive and Democrat political base a plausible narrative to hold on to as the truth is revealed.

None of those people will show up in the senate, and the media will blame Trump and give them a pass, just as they have so far.
