The Virginia Beach shooter who killed 12 people and wounded several others in a municipal complex on Friday had submitted his resignation earlier that morning, officials said Sunday.
The gunman, identified as 40-year-old DeWayne Craddock, was an engineer with the city's public utilities department for 15 years. In a news conference Sunday morning, Virginia Beach City Manager Dave Hansen described the man’s work performance as “satisfactory” with no ongoing issues of discipline.

The reports of his resignation being routine (the meat of the story) are bogus, he was forced to resign or be fired and had numerous incidents recently at work.
Virginia Beach muni workers were left exposed to a disgruntled fellow employee.
When I see “public utilities” and “engineer”, I really have to wonder what KIND of engineer? Scientific designer or a guy who runs engines?
I think people should be very careful about citing that “source.” However, the problem is that the MSM has published very little information about him, and certainly not the text of the letter that he sent to his supervisors when he resigned that morning. So it’s not surprising that speculation is running wild.
How do you know these facts?
He may have been in “good standing,” but this is going to look like hell on his resume.
