President Trump announced Sunday the annual Rolling Thunder veterans gathering would go on past this year, which was expected to be its last ride.
Since 1988, veterans and supporters have ridden motorcycles through Washington to show support and solidarity for prisoners of war and those missing in action. Organizers said there have been financial and logistical reasons for pulling the plug on the event after this year. But Trump tweeted Sunday that they would be returning.
The Great Patriots of Rolling Thunder WILL be coming back to Washington, D.C. next year, & hopefully for many years to come. It is where they want to be, & where they should be. Have a wonderful time today. Thank you to our great men & women of the Pentagon for working it out! he said.
Trump did not offer details about how permitting and other problems would get worked out with the Defense Department. The cost of the national event is a significant factor in ending it, according to Rolling Thunder's executive director, Artie Muller. He also cited what he said is a lack of support from Pentagon officials, manifested in the diversion of bikers away from Pentagon parking lots, which, Muller says, they used in the past without problems.
Rolling Thunder has 90 chapters in 29 states. It began with about 3,000 riders and has now grown to up to 70,000 participants.

The man just keeps on MAGA, one great decision after another!
Great! Thank you, President Trump! The LIB lunatics probably have what’s left of their mutated heads exploding about now.
I tried to ride part way with them around 7 years ago as they passed through my area. They rode "nut to butt" the way the military in boot camp march which is the most dangerous way they could possibly ride. I was disappointed in what they had become. A road captain on a Goldwing pulled me over and informed me I was not to ride with them. The police would be called if I did because I didn't pre-register to ride with them and would not ride in the stupid and dangerous way they were riding in cluster groups nut to butt leaving no time to react to an accident ahead. James Gregory had long retired from organizing this ride and I was left to wonder if this kind of thing was why.
They had the right intentions but their execution was all wrong. Sad really. I no longer support the Run for the Wall but do support Rolling Thunder (of course).
The Run for the Wall was originally supposed to be a way for fellow VN vets to get together on a road trip (on bikes) to share in their experiences in a way only they could do. I hope that part at least succeeded as they are quickly dying off since many are in their 80's now.

For America to have CONFIDENCE in our future, we must TEACH our kids our HISTORY... (Wishfulthinker)
Amen.
It’s a stereotype that even a maniac like me who still drives his challenger at ridiculous speeds and never grew up has.
We usually think of guys and gals that ride bikes as the crazy and wild bunch.
I think the movies had something to do with that.
PLUS THERE’S NO CAR AROUND YOU!! :)
Too risky for this wuss :)
This is a prime example of deep state leftists in the defense department using their power to silence conservatives. Thank you President Trump but we must worm to oust these horrible leftists.

This is another instance that brings to mind the following.
When people whine about Trump, I just laugh at the silliness.
We are NEVER going to have a guy that agrees with us more.
What are our idiots waiting for? Be happy!
This man is tops.My kind of President.
Those POS need to be cashiered and now.
another check in the win column.
Hmm, maybe a 8 cylinder radial with exposed valve covers taped as it low levels overhead.

Thanks to the hundreds of police officers that managed traffic around DC so the event could happen safely.
