It seems we have UN learned what we knew to be true in WW2.
The way you win a war is to kill the enemy in huge numbers, annihilate their cities by bombing them to rubble and then bomb the rubble into dust. Break the enemy soldiers and the peoples will to fight by having no limits on who, what or where the bombs drop.
In other words use the military for the purpose for which it was intended and that is to kill people and break things.
We are by far the preeminent military power on the planet and there is no nation or combination of nation’s that would prevail in a conflict with us.
Our power is not just military either. The United States consumes about 33% of the output of all goods and service produced in the entire world.
We have it all and amazingly it appears we are on the road to losing it all.
The North Vietnamese Army was all but defeated when democrats pulled the plug on funding and made it seem as though the US couldn't go on.

I fully agree with you except partially with the Afghanistan bit.
I believe that the initial war in 2002 was good - we went in, removed an evil regime that was hurting its own people and exporting terror.
Where we made the mistake was not finishing the job by de-nuclearing Pakistan and killing Osama in Paki-land.
Iraq was a mistake from 1991.
Iran would be a big mistake - the Iranian people are fed up with their regime, but an attack by the US will only portray the Ayatollahs as “national defenders” - think of it this way, if Obama was in charge and someone attacked the US and Obambi said “I will fight them”, he’d then get the support even from the likes of us.
