Emergency room patients increasingly leave California hospitals against medical advice, and experts say crowded ERs are likely to blame.

It’s not just Cali. Memphis has 1 public hospital, it serves Miss, and ARK too. Illegals have turned it into a doctor’s office. Private ones treat you like a Criminal. If they have to admit they do a 2 day Medicare one, which is technically a hold for Observation, not a hospital admission, they might run a few test to look like they are doing something, but not actually getting at the root of why you went to a ER.

It often takes weeks to get in to see your doctor, if you get a referral it could be MONTHS before a slot opens even if it Urgent. We use Kroger’s little Clinic for most easy to treat stuff that just needs an Antibiotic. This is a bigger issue in Rural areas that have few medical doctors or facilities.

Primary ran his usual battery of blood work, both Sugar/and Kidney values are way out of wack, called the ENDO’s office to get an appointment Wed, still not heard back from them. My test Meter doesn’t show the crazy BS values. Tad over what they want them to be, but not in Crisis zone. Yet I got labelled a Untreated Diabetic with Stage 3 Kidney disease. NO referral to a Kidney doc or mention of medication, or test more frequently. That is my ENDO’s Job he’s in charge of the Thyroid and Pre-Diabetic from Gastropresis gastro issues.

Its because they are going to the ER for stuff that is not emergent.

And they are going to the ER for non-emergency care because the ER is the only part of our medical system that is required by law to treat them regardless of their ability to pay.

So the illegal alien who leaves the ER after waiting 12 hours for non-emergency care is getting a good lesson in what it means to get what you pay for.

"Which waits will seem short under the Socialist Democrat proposed Medicare For All plans."

A HA!.....we'll be getting the ol'"adversity" quotient applied and whitey will get to wait behind all the non tax bearing illegals, misfits, drugged, and drunk.

I recall during the Obamacare debate the liars of the LA Times editorial board tried to sell it to its readers by saying even the middle class insured would benefit from Obamacare because it would make all the uninsured more healthy and hospital emergency rooms would become far less crowded. But the left is never held to account for their lies, they just pretend they never said it.

Republicans should make a video of these packed emergency rooms and produce videos against both ILLEGAL ALIENS and SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.

Back in the 80’a I was an intern at LAC-USC medical center. During my OB rotation we joked about making more citizens then a federal judge. Illegals would drive up to LA because at the time San Diego would just take the woman and dump her at the border.

Because of this, we had a lot of emergency deliveries. The moms would sit in the parking lot until they were crowning and knew we would be stuck. Once the baby hit the whole family dropped anchor.

One night we had a super quiet night. Only a few deliveries. Very strange. In the morning when we left, we saw someone had parked a green van near the entrance. The illegals saw it and thought “La Migra!” and took off. We talked about buying an old green van and using occasionally to get a break...

And guess who’s paying for their ER tabs?

ER costs are just staggering. I had to take my husband for a neck issue. It turned out to be a ruptured disc; the pain in his arm was at Level 10.

I was so grateful we were *not* in SoCal anymore. We have good insurance, but, we did get the EOB. Total charges for one in network ER visit: $6000.

What many suckers don’t get is that illegals use ERs in place of primary care physicians. They are well aware of federal laws protecting them from being turned away.

The hospitals lose nothing. This is kind of a back end thing. You may be told illegals are not getting Medicaid. But, if they show up in an ER, Medicaid (or Medicare) will reimburse the hospital.

This giant scam cost us $18.5 billion in 2016.

Try a border town, too.

Or any city in Riverside/San Bernardino Counties.

But, wear lots of Kevlar and be packin’. You’ll be wearing a bullseye.

Primary ran his usual battery of blood work, both Sugar/and Kidney values are way out of wack, called the ENDO’s office to get an appointment Wed, still not heard back from them.

That's weird. They should be able to give you an appt. even it it's for a month from now. Call again Monday, bet they've lost you in the system.

My test Meter doesn’t show the crazy BS values. Tad over what they want them to be, but not in Crisis zone. Yet I got labelled a Untreated Diabetic with Stage 3 Kidney disease. NO referral to a Kidney doc or mention of medication, or test more frequently.

Won't do you any good to see a kidney doc until you get the sugars under control. The damage has already been done and there are no medications that will reverse it. They may be able to temporize and slow additional damage in order to delay dialysis.

You're about to find yourself on a low protein, low carb diet. (Low protein for the kidneys, low carb for the diabetes.) If you cut out almost all carbs now you might even get readings of blood sugar on your meter instead of out of range high.

The wife found herself in exactly your position about a year ago. Life hasn't been the same since.

Think ER are the only problem, try the DMV. Standing room only around the building and for hours. California is a shi! house and no way to clean out the turd.

It would be funny to walk in there wearing something that said “ICE” on in. The place would clear out in seconds.

not true.....Medicare, etc do not pay full price...they'll pay much lower than what the actual care costs......they can only chalk up so much for charity care....

I'm a tweener....still work at age 65....I carry my husband on my dental plus he's on Medicare A/B plus tricare for life plus tricare dental

we still got stuck with a $1000 dollar bill for his dental abscess....the specialized dentist who did the abscess doesn't accept Medicare we find out and the pathology group says Medicare won't do anything for "mouths"..and apparently, our dental insurance is just crap...

what the hell is paying for insurance do if they pay so little or not at all....

I told my husband that we must treat ailments, yes, but from now on, we clarify before any specialized care what our insurance will pay.....

I've already decided that my dental checkups are going to go from every 6 months to every 8-9 months...

regular Americans are being squeezed out of healthcare even as we paid for it for many decades...

Maybe I’ll visit a Los Angeles emergency room wearing an ICE jacket. That would be a truly fun FReep”””

Double your pleasure-—Double your fun....

Visit a number of Western Union locations wearing that ICE jacket.

Watch out for the stampede!!!

My primary doc sent me to a hospital in rural Oregon in 2017. Very slow heartbeat, 45 bpm with a normal of 90, and no underlying conditions. My doc called ahead and warned them I was coming. Only 2 people ahead of me, and receptionist acknowledged that they did get the call from my doc. Even so, I waited 45 minutes.

The ER performed every test they could think of, to try to figure out what was causing my slow heart rate of 45 bpm. After 2.5 hours they put me on an ambulance to Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute (OHVI). Would have sent me sooner if a bed had opened sooner. It was in the middle of the flu epidemic in Nov 2017.

For 2.5 hours, doing nothing but tests, ER billed my insurance co. over $5,000. OHVI, who kept me two nights and installed a pacemaker, billed $50,000.

Had decent insurance, although large deductible. The adventure, as I choose to look at it, cost me $6,200.

How is this news? This was true 20+ years ago.

You don’t go to ER in SoCal unless you can’t breathe, in cardiac arrest, or gunshot wound. For everything else, if you have $, you go to urgent care. Or you know ERs that are in difficult to access areas with less wait.

Exactly! I remember!

It did push many cash for service nice clean urgent cares up like mushrooms. The one we walk into sees you for any normal medical problem pretty much immediately, real docs, quick service.

They do everything. I call our doctors and ask how much for [a treatment or school doc note] and then I call urgent care and urgent care is always cheaper. And nicer. And no need to wait 11 days for an inconvenient appointment.

Google “King-Drew Medical Center”. It was supposed to be the savior of South Central LA, but it turned into a nightmare for the patients they “treated”. The PTB knew what was going on but would do nothing about it — racist, doncha know. It finally got so bad, it was closed.
