Trump says a gay person running for president is ‘absolutely fine’

President Trump had some good-natured fun trying to pronounce democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg’s name — but proclaimed that he thought it was great that a gay married man was running for office.

“I think it’s absolutely fine, I do. I think it’s great. I think it’s something that perhaps some people may have a problem with. I have no problem whatsoever, I think it’s good,” Trump told Steve Hilton, host of Fox News’ “The Next Revolution,” in an interview that will air Sunday at 9 p.m.

Trump’s liberal take could be at odds with evangelical Christians — and even his own vice president, Mike Pence, who opposes gay marriage.

Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, married Chasten Glezman, a school teacher, in June 2018

Now ask Democrats if it is a great idea to nominate a gay man for their party?

What else would Mr. Trump say? It’s a tautology.

If Mr. Buttigieg is a natural-born citizen 35 or older, his candidacy is “absolutely fine.”

“.......thought it was great that a gay married man was running for office.”

“Running” is one thing, winning is another.

I don’t. When Buttgig is president the gay agenda will go into hyperdrive.

Buttgig, or any other gay candidate, ain’t gonna get to be President if he can’t get no African-American or Latino support ... can’t win with only liberal honkies’ votes

Of course he has to say that,My guess is that the voters of every state that he carried...along with at least a few others...would make their disapproval known in the voting booth.

Liberal heads will explode.

I think the only reason he is in the race is to use his “gayness” as a weapon against President Trump

I doubt he will survive the primaries let alone get the nomination.

President Trump knows this and so it cost him nothing to say what he said.

He might be a good candidate for us, a White fag is not good for minority turnout.

I’m sure it IS absolutely fine with President Trump. There are millions of people who are so sick of this crap and would gladly take the opportunity to vote against it. Just bring the “husband” up for a nice wet sloppy kiss on the stage and that’s all that’s needed.

That is a good point. Anyone who meets the constitutional requirements for the Presidency should be able to run for that office. The candidate's race, sex, sexual orientation, height, weight, etc. are not relevant to whether or not they should be able to run for the office. Nor of course is whether or not they are willing to release their tax returns.

As to actually being elected, that is up to the voters to decide. And voters can and should take whatever aspects of a candidate's character are important to them into consideration. Personally, I care about a candidate's political ideas above everything else. I think voters who are swayed by fads, like voting for the "first" whatever for President, are making a mistake.

Of course it will but, if the Dems were smart, this is the time to run a pyrrhic candidate and portray the entire election as a “hate crime”. They leave 2020 having stood on principle and “tolerance” while, at the same time, making sure he never seriously gets elected to high office.

Of course it’s what he would say. But under his breath, I imagine he’s saying a few additional things.

I’ve got to hand it to Trump, he knows how to lead his opponents down the wrong path.

There are still many men who are repulsed by homesexuality, who would never vote for Mayor Pete. Many of them are black and Hispanic blue-collar workers, exactly the demographic where Trump would like to make inroads.

Nothing will bring the Christian vote out like two men pretending they’re a couple. It stopped me from buying Tide, and any other product that tries to tell me that God is wrong.

Agreed. I’m sure it would be super-fine with DJT if Pete gets the Dem nod.

President Trump really does not care about gender, race, sexual orientation, or pretty much anything else except competency.

The corrupt media on the other hand? All they care about is gender, race, sexual orientation, and pretty much anything but competency.

Pretty sure if these media pukes saw President Trump actually walking on water, their story would be “President Trump Cannot Swim.”
