The death toll has jumped to 41 people, including two children, who were killed Sunday in a fiery airplane accident at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee said. The Sukhoi SSJ100 operated by national airline Aeroflot had 78 passengers and five crew members on board when it touched down and sped down a runway spewing huge flames and black smoke.
According to Russian news agencies, the plane had taken off for the northern city of Murmansk, but a fire broke out while the flight was airborne. Social media videos show the plane engulfed in flames after it landed. Some news reports cited sources as saying the plane bounced several times during the landing.
Emergency vehicles arrived at the airport to assist passengers moving away from the plane some holding luggage and fight the flames, which were coming out of the airplane's rear section. It's unclear what caused the fire.

Not likely in Russia. To Russians life isn’t cheap. It’s worthless.
The plane took a lightening strike while in flight and lost most/all electrical system.
It was not on fire during the approach to land. Fast approach speed with high sink rate caused a porpoise bounce, and on the second bounce, the main landing gear failed and punctured the fuel tanks.
It was still going quite fast down the runway and the streaming fuel ignited.
There is video of this happening.
FOD could of been sucked up and started a chain reaction to lead to that.
I’m not saying that’s what happened, but it’s possible.
Still, my Supper Secret Anonymous Source says: “Seven out of ten plane crashed are targeted kills.”

Valuejet. Near vertical dive into the Everglades. I’ve heard that there weren’t any people pieces found that were bigger than a tooth. Must have been tough to have been on the clean-up crew.

You take your chances any time you get on a Russian airplane, lets be honest.
Or a Boeing plane.
Fate Is the Hunter .... a very good read.

Dude.
That music!
RIP.
Another “Thank you, Islam” moment?
The thing that lingers with me on that flight was why the Captain did not take the plane into Ft. Lauderdale instead of trying for MIA?
She was over NW Broward(I believe around Parkland)when she turned back. I have witnessed 5 emergency?(3) crash landings at Ft. Lauderdale and they can handle them well!
I recall flying into Kiev and when the plane landed and came to a complete stop, all the passengers cheered.
Something in the engine could've came loose and FOD'ed itself out. Misplaced tool, perhaps or a component that wasn't attached properly. I'd guess that Russian aircraft maintainers aren't as rigidly adherent to proper tool control as we are here in America.
The wheel rims are meant to take a lot of heat, but once they go, they won’t go out. Magnesium alloy.
Video of first touchdown. Not on fire, but one heck of a bounce. Would have added lots of power while trying to recover.

Good movie, too.
I have read that people at the front stopping to take their carry ons has been a serious problem with evacuations. Maybe they need to lock the overhead bins - people can keep a small bag of important stuff under the seat in front of them (as they are supposed to do anyway, and as I always do) but dont unlock the overhead bins until landing. That would also stop people from popping up to get their bag before the plan has landed.
