The United States Army was the villain in the Black Hawk Down incident in Somalia, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., wrote in a 2017 Twitter post.
Omar, a Somali native elected to Congress last fall, was responding to a tweet that falsely described the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu as the worst terrorist attack in Somali history. The original tweet noted that 19 American soldiers were killed and 73 American soldiers were wounded.

In his selective memory, [the writer] forgets to also mention the thousands of Somalis killed by the American forces that day! #NotTodaySatan, Omar wrote while still a Minnesota state legislator.
Omar has repeatedly generated controversy, largely for anti-Semitic statements about Israel which employed old canards about Jewish power and money. House leaders forced her to apologize in February after she tweeted Its all about the Benjamins baby, referring to American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) alleged spending and its purported influence on American policy.
A few fringe characters have reacted to the Omar controversies by making threats against the congresswoman. Omar is an elected official, however, and her viewpoints remain a fair point for debate despite those hateful acts.

"hat being said, why were we there in the first place?"
Wasted,
Officially, we Marines first showed up in December 1992, 2/9 landed and moved into the Mog. They were sent there to protect the NGO's and UN folks and allow them to feed the starving Somalis. The different warlords were fighting over territories and they used food as a weapon. They would confiscate all of the food and hand it out to their supporters and gain people to their side by having the food. I was there by the end of December 1992. Along with elements of the 1st Mar Div, the Army's 10th Mountain Div was also there. We Marines left in April 1993 and it became a UN operation that was mostly run by the American Army. Even when we left, the mission was gradually changing from one of protecting shipments to going after the warlords, especially Mohammed Farrah Aideed, the most powerful one. We were doing weapons confiscation missions and active combat patrols.
In my long Marine Corps career, there are only two events I was involved in that I felt we should have never been there. That was Beirut and Somalia. If she loves the Mog, she can go back there, chew Khat and get high like all of the other lowlifes that live there. Good riddance.

There should be no question left in any persons mind why Ilhan Omar is in the US and why she wanted to be elected.... a s she has said..."she seeks the transformation of America."
Further why is she using the hashtag #NotTodaySatan if not in agreement with the Islamists who call the US The Great Satan and Israel the Little Satan?

Just wondering, when she shows up at the Capitol building, do they search her for explosive belts.
I doubt it, she would never do that. She can cause more real damage this way.

I hope every Republican campaigns against her next year as the face of the Democratic Party. It is beyond belief that even the Democrats can call this evil woman a member of their party.

Simply put, the enemy was killed. The enemy.
Don’t forget that Aspin and the Clinton administration did not send tanks and this contributed to the death and maiming of a lot of Americans.

I also question why the hell we were sent to Somalia. I was a young Sgt at the time. I was deployed with the 15th MEU onboard the USS Tripoli. I stepped off a CH-46 at the Mogadishu airport ON 9 Dec 1992 and spent the next 3 months doing convoy security. It was apparent early on that no one wanted us there, and we were not going to stop the clan warfare or feed those people. I was happy to get back on the ship at the end of February 93. That place will always be a hell hole. We didn’t accomplish a damn thing there.

I agree. I was a SSgt in HQ Bn 1st Mar Div at the time. Eventually, they pulled all of us grunts out to run patrols and missions. Remember the wonderful soccer stadium? The mess hall at the headquarters area was built on a mass grave site, wonderful.
Did a WESTPAC on the Tripoli, LPH-3. Lots of good memories from that float.

I did two tours in Bosnia. It was then I learned how bad the media was. The media demonized the Serbs, when it fact it was Islam that was the problem.
