PARIS, April 15 (Reuters) - Notre-Dame Cathedral went up in flames on Monday in a roaring blaze that devasted the Parisian landmark, one of France's most visited places.

Flames burst through the roof of the centuries-old cathedral and quickly engulfed the spire, which collapsed.
A huge plume of smoke wafted across the city and ash fell over a large area.
Firefighters cleared the area around the cathedral, which marks the very center of Paris.
President Emmanuel Macron canceled an address to the nation that he had been due to give later on Monday evening. A presidential official said Macron was to go to the scene of the blaze.
"A terrible fire is under way at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris," Mayor Anne Hidalgo said on Twitter.
France 2 television reported that police were treating the incident as an accident.

Until you post, I had not even considered that the timing is definitely suspicious considering it is Holy Week. I was so shocked by the fire that the timing had not occurred to me. It is only a matter of time until most of the great monuments to civilization are topped by "accident".

Officially, no, but there are many faithful Catholics in France, they go to Latin Mass and they have children. My French priest friends have 5 to 12 siblings each.

2. My French-born priest went back to France to visit his family last year, and they warned him not to wear his cassock in public ... not because of fears of an attack by Muslims, but an attack by ordinary French sh!t-bags.

It is sad that this happened. In some of the footage you can see the scaffolding. THey are saying it was an “accident”.
