Job market bounces back in March with 196,000 gain in payrolls
CNBC ^ | 5 April 2019 | Jeff Cox

Job creation posted a solid rebound in March, with nonfarm payrolls expanding by 196,000 and the unemployment rate holding steady at 3.8 percent, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report Friday.

That was better than the 175,000 Dow Jones estimate and comes after a dismal February that had economists wondering whether the decade-old economic expansion was nearing an end. The unemployment rate met expectations.

Wage gains fell off the recent strong pace, increasing just 0.14 percent for the month and 3.2 percent year over year, below expectations of the 3.4 percent pace from last month. The average work week increased by 0.1 hour to 34.5 hours.

A broader gauge of unemployment that also counts discouraged workers and those holding part-time jobs for economic reasons also was unchanged at 7.3 percent. The measure, known as the “real unemployment rate” is down from 7.9 percent a year ago.

Job gains were fairly broad based.

Health care led with 49,000 new workers, professional and technical services added 34,000 and food and drinking establishments contributed 27,000. Construction rose by 16,000 but manufacturing saw 6,000 jobs lost.

This means the fed should triple interest rates.

Catbert is a fictional cat, and the “evil director of human resources” in the Dilbert comic strip. He was supposed to be a one-time character but resonated with readers so well that Adams brought him back as the HR director.

Yep. Amazing how they conflate the weakest expansion ever with Trump’s actual expansion.

The Enemedia. 100% leftist partisans. Liars, propagandists, haters of good.

Aging society requires more health care workers. The number will only grow.

Note that most of the health care positions filled are gaps left from nurses who were burned out, left the bedside to become “advanced practice or managers”, got critically disabled and or retired and will never work nursing again. It doesn’t even cover already critically open positions not being filled because nursing schools are at capacity and their graduates yearly in the aggregate are never enough to cover the shortage...plus while we get ‘imports’, even some of those nations are acting to try and keep some of their own nurses “at home”.

We see a cycle of 30 per cent turnover from bedside nursing positions every 3 years with fewer than 10 per cent of nurses who have at least 10 to 20 years experience who remain in the acute critical settings over 5 year periods the rest have 10 years or less over 5 years with about 50 per cent are at 0 to 3 years experience at any given time. Your nursing wards are being run by 22 to 27 year olds mostly, millennials with a few old farts like me trying to keep them out of mischief until they get their sea legs. It takes about 2 years for a talented RN to gain experience and confidence in what they are doing but we give them 12 weeks to at least show minimal competence and the judgment that says...”I know when I’m out of my experience and when I am, I’ll get help or get the answers from someone who does.” Reaching that level of mature judgment at least makes them safe as health practitioners.

And CNBC claims to be an investment news channel.

Bad news source to make financial or political decisions.

Man, this Trump guy has to go!!! How the heck can we justify getting free stuff if all these jobs keep popping up!! We need high unemployment to justify sitting on our lazy a$$es and collect all those rich people's money. We need socialism to get all free stuff. Free money; free health care; free college; woops first free GED course then the free college, my bad, so sad!!; We want Bernie, we want Bernie. Commissar Bernie to rule the world!!

Really around there are signs in a lot of places advertising HELP WANTED. But, you don't see a line trying to sign in and interview for those jobs. No, it is easier to sit on your lazy a$$es!!!!!!!!!

My supervisor and I did interviews for a summer temp position last tuesday. 8 people were offered interviews and only 2 showed up. 1 of those 2 had already been offered a position in another department and decided to go with them. Luckily the one that was left had worked for us a few years before and did a good job.

If you want a job you can get one right now.

>>>After February’s anomaly of only 20K (now revised to 33K) jobs created, the economy is back on the march.

The President doesn’t appear to be as confident as you are. He just called on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates and return to quantitative easing.

I’ll bet they lump all of the CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistant) in with ‘healthcare.’ We NEED people to help us empty our bedpans and dress and feed us!

We have a number of younger family members in the medical field, and we’re encouraging as many more that are capable to do so. So far we have a Pharmacist, a Cardiac Nurse, a Dental Technician and a CNA.

I am building my Old-Age Empire! :)

Amen. And frankly I do not care who get the credit. I just want people to work. Makes them productive and improves self-worth—oh, and saves me money :).
