The convoy system has been in place in many areas near black populations; without it a lone white person would be like the wounded herd animal trailing the rest - with the lions and hyenas circling.
The U of SC is surrounded by public housing and ghetto slums. Living in SC, I was fortunate that none of my daughters or sons wanted to attend there. The innocent kids at this school are easy targets for the lowlifes who surround the school. Word to the wise, there are a lot of good safe universities but avoid this S-—hole campus by all means.
That buddy system is critical; everyone should use it, especially females. Years ago in NYC a girl (Imette St. Guillen) was out partying and her friends tried to take her along when they left; she stayed and was killed by a bouncer later that night. Same story (white girl not native to the area - she was from Boston/black local guy); I kid you not - young people need to watch these nature shows where lions and hyenas pick off targets of opportunity. For all the PC BS these women are fed, they don’t seem to understand that when they leave the civilized environments they are basically dealing with bipedal hyenas.
I was born in Newark,N.J. in 1940 and grew up in the 50’s. I remember getting on the bus to Penn Station in Newark and then getting on the train to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx,N.Y. There would be 3-4 of us and no adults. We were perfectly safe. You cannot do that today.
As my children aged we visited some colleges in nearby Newark NJ; I was shocked at how many safety features have been added to deal with the fears of students - and their parents - about the environment. It is all moot if the predator is some affirmative action or athletic scholarship “student”; the females are no safer inside the fortified compounds than outside. They were also adding parking decks because they understand the days of students getting off a bus a few blocks away and walking through Northwest Mogadishu are over; they either provide secure parking, or close the schools.
Anyone know if the perp has a record?
It’s all moot if a vic is his or her worst enemy. Being out alone, at 2 AM, likely impaired is not a smart thing to do. Why make it easy for a perp?
I agree, though this sounds more like a horrible mistake at the end of the night by someone trying to do the right thing (not driving drunk). She bears some responsibility, but around normal people this would have just resulted in her being told to beat it - and she’d resume waiting for the real Uber.
I spent my youth in a paradise, simply because I was an American citizen. Even then I knew it. It's true, #MAGA has real meaning to our age group.
Some years ago, we arrived at a southeastern airport quite late one evening due to a really miserable tragicomic series of flights involving delays, cancellations and foul weather... only to find the car rental desk closed. We were going to take one of the cabs lined up in front of the airport terminal when a uniformed policeman walks briskly up and keeps me from opening the cab's door.
"You don't want that cab," he says. "Wait a minute."
Then he motions to roll down the passenger side window and bends down, revealing a guy in the right front seat in addition to the driver. The officer proceeded to very seriously chew the pair new ones. The next cab that pulls up he waves away, while he admonishes us about not seeing the the guys riding shotgun that we hadn't even noticed in the dark. We were situationally unaware, to say the least.
Third cab was a charm, and I have always been grateful to that officer. We would have been ridiculously easy pigeons for the taking.
Newark, cant even imagine what the schools would be like knowing what I know about it. The other factor to think about is most of these schools are run by ultra liberal PC correct morons. So their first priority is not protecting the student population.
For God's sake, why not just offer to be the designated driver/drunk wrangler? You'll never lack for friends if you offer to be the person staying sober.
When our kids are young we teach them not to get into a strange car or go with strangers. Now there is a service encouraging them to do both.
That’s terrifying - and today we have the media-fueled race hatred on top of the standard issues (mugging/theft, car-jacking, etc.). Too many stories of people who have already given up the wallet or car still getting severely beaten or killed...
They have to protect the student population if they want to have students. There is a cluster of schools (Rutgers, NJ Institute of Technology, Essex County College) in an area with few residential properties - but the bipedal hyenas migrate there for the easy pickings. I don’t know if the engineering school would be called “liberal”; STEM fields have no room for that. 1+1 always equals 2 - no way around that.
