MOUNT SODOM, ISRAEL Israeli researchers said Thursday they have surveyed what they now believe to be the worlds longest salt cave, a network of twisting passageways at the southern tip of the Dead Sea.
A recently completed survey of the Malham Cave determined the labyrinthine cavern stretches more than 6 miles in length. That puts it well ahead of Irans Namakdan Cave, previously thought to be the longest salt cave.
**SNIP**
The Malham Caves main outlet yawns not far from a salt pillar named Lots wife, after the biblical character who was petrified for looking back at the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. On the mountainside above, Langford, Vlaykova and their colleagues have identified at least 19 openings where seasonal floods have percolated through Mount Sodoms rock salt to form the cave.

We humans ALWAYS want an explanation.
If we don't get one (which is MOST of the time) then we tend to make things up.

Lot, early on, showed himself to be unworthy. First, he asked for (and got) the best parcel of land, then took a foolish wife, then moved to a City so sinful God determined to destroy it, then offered to let the wicked men of the city use his daughters for sex, then had to be nearly dragged out of the city, to keep from being destroyed, then allowed his two daughters to get him drunk, and have sex with him. What a guy!And yet...
2 Peter 2:7-8
7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)

These Bible folks, gotta love 'em.

Ot, there are pillars of salt all around the place. And it makes for a great ending. (Which it is.)

I work in a hospital, I understand its important to keep good records. My point is that I ALSO have to show my insurance card. But, if its all free for everyone why do they need to know who I am? On the other hand, will they make sure that non Americans are not getting Medicare on our dime?
The whole thing is unworkable.

The Bible never said we had to be perfectly good, only faithful. God would provide the perfect, we need only believe.
Lot believed and had faith but let his lusts pull him away from God. However, when Lot had to make a choice, he made the right one.

We'll plead our cause at the bar of God,
We poor lost souls for whom Christ died.
