AG Barr Defends Trump in Oval Office “Your Declaration of Border Emergency is CLEARLY AUTHORIZED”

On Friday Attorney General Bill Barr sided with President Trump. Barr said the president “absolutely has the right to declare a national emergency on the southern border there. He says the veto is the right thing to do. And the declaration will hold up in a court of law.

AG Bill Barr: Mr. President your declaration of an emergency on the southern border was clearly authorized under the law and consistent with past precedent… The humanitarian and security crisis that we currently have right now on the border is exactly the type of emergency that presidents are permitted to address.

Ann Coulter weighed in.

"CLEARLY LAWFUL" — Attorney General Bill Barr on border emergency declaration. But I'm sure constitutional scholars Rand Paul & Lisa Murkowski know better. https://t.co/rd9ojWlTVs — Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) March 15, 2019

A “voice vote” would not have any recorded “no votes” as a vote is not taken. It simply means that it wasn’t deemed close enough or at least in doubt enough to call for a formal vote so you have no idea how many “No’s” there were or were not.

Richard Thornburgh prior to Barr was confirmed unanimously and was NOT uncommon at the time. Maybe you had a problem with Reagan’s pick as well?

Edwin Meese (super hard ass) 69-31 seriously, you’re trying to make your point with that?
2018: Barr was reported to the Senate on a 12–10, party-line vote. Barr was confirmed as the next Attorney General by a 54–45 near party-line vote. An extremely close vote by historical standards.

With Congress failing to defeat President Trumps emergency boarded deleration and Atorney General saying its lawful I don’t see how the courts have any standing especially it being an emergency you would think it could not be tyed up in the courts but we all know when it comes to our great President anything and Everthing will be thrown at him the law be damed...

I was unsure about Barr, as a former Bush admin guy, but so far he’s been solid.

I don’t know for sure but I think there is a way to send the S.C. the case right away and not have to fight thru the lower courts.

Every 5th grader in America knows this is part of the president’s constitutional powres. Why don’t Democrats and the Media?

In 1991, every Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to confirm Barr as Attorney General.

Cool, fun with numbers.

In January 1984, more Democrats voted for Edward Meese as AG than voted for William Barr in December of 2018.

What worries me (Bush's revenge?):

LINK: The Trump administration lost its bid to enforce new rules on asylum applications before the Supreme Court in December.....At an earlier phase of the case, the president drew a rare public reprimand from Roberts, after Trump accused Tigar of partisanship. The chief said the president was wrong to call Tigar “an Obama judge.”

No, this is a case the USSC would allow to be fast tracked based on the President claiming it to be a national emergency and my guess is even if some lefty Judge issues an injunction it will be over and done by mid year.

Up until two years ago that would have made sense.

Now? In the Looking Glass world of 2019? Who knows?!

>>>Finally, an AG that supports the president<<<

Nope, an Attorney General who supports THE LAW.

So far anyway...

These Senate wankers gave their congressional authority away. There is nothing unconstitutional about what the President is doing. Instead of voting against this, Mike Lee and company should push a bill through the legislature rescinding this power or revamping the Emergency Powers Act. Of course it would not be retroactive.
