House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.
The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber then under GOP control voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.
We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in, Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.
The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the For the People Act, which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.
The measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants and indeed noncitizens as a whole are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

Since the leftists justify killing babies born alive, then no rational argument exists, by their own logic, as to why why we cannot justify gunning down leftists openly in the streets.
Since, by their measure, all human life - even those born - is now just a matter of “individual choice” as to whether it may be allowed to continue, then am I not free to choose to liberate them from their existence on this planet?
Logically, this is where all the Left’s arguments and policies eventually lead.

IIRC, we did this very act in 2009, over Obamacare - to no effect ... And as I remember the event, more than a few of those marching alongside me remarked: “next time, we come armed.”
Confirmation as to why women should have never been given the right to vote - nor those who do not own land.
And of course, it won't...for now.
But that entirely misses the larger point.
This is the epitome of the slippery slope.
Even 10 short years ago, there was nowhere near this level of subversion being advocated at the national level, and practiced at the local level. 20 years ago would have been yet more unthinkable, and so on.
Yet, here we are. And as foreign nationals continue to pour into our country illegally by the tens of thousands every single month, this sort of mentality will only continue to grow...until sometime in the near future, the subversives and America haters will get their way. The 22 million+ foreigners already here illegally, in addition to the millions more coming in now, will be voting for our gov't from top to bottom. Their voices will take away from the voices of the citizens.
In FY 2018, an average of more than 33,000 were apprehended on the southern border EVERY month.
In FY 2019, as of the end of Feb, the average is more than 53,000 apprehensions, EVERY month.

We were told for years that there were 11 million foreign nationals in our country unlawfully. It was a lie.

And 22,000,000 undoubtedly, is under estimated as well.
That's more people than the ENTIRE state of Florida, and darn near as many as the whole state of Texas! An entire large state's worth of foreign nationals who have disrespected our sovereignty and rule of law and are living here illegally, many (most, who really knows?) receiving taxpayer paid for housing, food, medical, dental, legal, schooling and other "welfare."

Allowing illegals to vote in ANY jurisdiction is a clear violation of the 14th. Open and shut.
The argument IS rational, taxation without representation.
What is not rational is letting them come in the first place.

It isn't rational. Someone here on vacation (for example), shouldn't be afforded representation that they could vote for. And that is someone who is presumably here lawfully. Nor someone here on a student visa (i.e. domiciled here).
The notion of taxation without representation (in this country) originated with the colonists in the several states. Of course immigration was different then, but those colonists were subjects of the English crown. Not foreigners of the English crown, or travelers or traders simply passing through.
More specifically, it was James Otis who was one of the original champions of the position for this form of representation in the Stamp Act Congress in 1765. [1] [2]
