Amazon finally caved to pressure for a company-wide $15 minimum wage in November. At Whole Foods, the difference looks to be made up in cuts to scheduled hours. According to reports by the Guardian, employees who remained anonymous in fear of retaliation have experienced significant decreases to their scheduled hours. In many cases, this negates or even supersedes the increased hourly rate.
Employees report a 30% reduction in hours per week for part-timers and about a 10% reduction for full-timers, with one Illinois-based employee specifically saying that after the raise, his hours went from 30 to 20 a week.

We need to make it illegal for businesses to slash hours, comrade.
Thomas Sowell has written about the inherent trade-offs in economics. This is basic stuff.
Hours x Rate of Pay = paycheck
No business can just arbitrarily make the paycheck bigger on a whim. The business needs the Paycheck to stay the same. If Rate of Pay is increased, then Hours needs to decrease. Not rocket science.

Manager: Now the bad news. You are ALL reduced to 15 hours per week.................
Socialism
Defying reality since 1883
Whole Foods: soon to be Half Foods.

Basic math for sure, but the Left’s failure to grasp even this simple concept means they cannot begin to understand the economic concept behind i. So those on the Left will do what they do best: Complain (loudly) and destroy (completely).
BINGO!
Simple Econ 101, you can pick the wage rate or the number of workers/hours but not both.
Meanwhile Jeff Bezos has more money to spend on his girlfriends.
He shoulda stuck books.
They’ve cut back on some sections and made them self serve instead. No employee standing there collecting a paycheck, giving away merch samples.
They also did away with bonuses some people used to get. That’s a pay cut.
The whole premise of the minimum wage was that everyone needed to achieve a pay that was viable for their community. Cutting the hours undos what the minimum wage was meant to combat. It’s complete hypocrisy.
My goodness, nobody could have seen that coming, could they?
We should start calling this AOConomics...that's where you just magically "pay for things," not knowing where the money comes from.
