“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report about an attack he said occurred as he walked to his apartment building in Streeterville last month.
The charge, a felony, was announced by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office Wednesday evening, hours after police called Smollett “a suspect in a criminal investigation … for filing a false police report.”
Earlier in the day, attorneys for Smollett, 36, met with prosecutors and detectives but it was unclear if the actor was present, according to police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. The lawyers, Todd Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, could not be reached for comment. They have been joined by high-profile, Los Angeles-based lawyer Mark Geragos who has represented numerous celebrities, including pop star Michael Jackson, R&B singer Chris Brown and actress Winona Ryder.
On Tuesday, two brothers who had been under arrest in the case appeared at the criminal courthouse, also to talk to prosecutors and detectives, authorities said. They and their attorney, Gloria Schmidt, were seen near the grand jury rooms Tuesday afternoon, but police said they did not appear before a grand jury.

Like I said the state might offer him that he can plead guilty down to a misdemeanor.
He does have another problem though with the Feds and letter.
If he said it felt like Niagara Falls, and slowly you turned, step by step, I think people would understand.

Apparently they tried to do a deal this morning. Smollett’’s lawyers refused the offer, and that’s why the grand jury was used.
Yes, I’ve seen the news about AG Kim Foxx recusing herself. That can only mean that she’s got a documented relationship with Smollett.
Lends credence to the claim that Smollett has close ties to Kamala Harris and other high ranking blacks in the Dem party.
Some have theorized that Harris and Cory Booker were in the loop on the beatdown hoax, which was timed to bolster their anti-lynching bill.
Not so sure I buy that, but what if it were true, and Smollett rolled on them? Of course, he wouldn’t, but wouldn’t that just blow the Democrats to smithereens?

They are thinking they can’t get a panel of 12 to find him guilty and are going to try and blame the brothers.
Let’s hope the state can get the judge to allow his prior conviction of lying to law enforcement that was in 2007 in LA.
Exactly. I'm surprised by the knee-jerk reaction of a lot of FReepers to the felony DC charge.The police have wanted to re-interview the racist ever since they talked to the Nigerians, and the fraudulent fag has "stiffed" them.
Now they will be able to grill him under the kleig lights. He will probably continue to lie, and they will nail him with several more charges. After which, they will inform him that the USPS and FBI are outside and also want to talk to him.
He then shows them his well practiced roll-over move - which implicates Heels-Up Harris, Maxine, Booker, and maybe even Obola.

Because it is inadequate for what he did. He will never get a felony conviction for this. It will be bargained down to spitting on the sidewalk and a small fine.
Mr. Smollett still has the little issue with the letter. The Feds will have jurisdiction over that.
It will come down to how good his lawyer is and is Jussie willing to take his advice.
If he listens to his lawyer he'll say as little as possible.
One shouldn't pretend when confronting someone with a rather large library.
Black's Law Dictionary (7th Ed.) Definition #1 says: A knowing misrepresentation of the truth or concealment of a material fact to induce another to act to his or her detriment. * Fraud is usu a tort, but in some cases (esp. when the conduct is willful) it may be a crime.

I am not surprised.
I hope whatever they plea it down to that they can put a muzzle on him. Imagine what will come out of his mouth once this is over. He’ll make an entire career and a great deal of wealth out of this otherwise.
What Smellit did is no different than what McCabe and the deep state is doing to Trump. Remember that this hoax is directed at Trump and us. I’d bet the farm that there’s someone or a group behind Smellits hoax.
Unless his lawyer tells him: "I've cut a great deal for you. Spill your guts out on Heels-up, Spartacus and insane Maxine, and you only have to spend 1 year in Illinois prison, and 3 years in Club Fed, otherwise, you're looking at a decade in the fun house."
