~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Camp Mabry, Texas Camp Mabry is a military installation in Austin, Texas that houses the headquarters of the Texas Military Forces and the Texas Military Forces Museum. Established in 1892, Camp Mabry is the third-oldest active military installation in Texas, behind Fort Sam Houston and Fort Bliss. It was named for Brigadier General Woodford H. Mabry, the Adjutant General of Texas when the camp was founded. The camp was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The facility has served a variety of military purposes since its establishment. It was used as a mobilization area during the SpanishAmerican War, as headquarters for the Texas Defense Guard during World War II, and as a training facility for the Texas DPS and the Texas Rangers until 1953. It has also hosted the Texas National Guard's State Officer Candidate School since 1959. Camp Mabry currently hosts other branches of the Reserve components of the United States Armed Forces from the United States Army Reserve, the United States Navy Reserve Navy Operations Support Center (NOSC Austin) and the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Other facilities include the 136th Regional Training Institute, state Combined Support Maintenance Shops, the armory of the 36th Infantry Division headquarters, a clinic, a parachute packing and storage facility, and additional storage buildings. In 1992 the Texas Military Forces Museum opened on the site. Prior to the September 11th attacks, Camp Mabry's mile-long track that sits adjacent to Mopac was a popular destination for walkers and joggers, and the field within it was used by many youth sports teams. The track and field are still available for public use, though adult visitors must present a state or federal ID at the gate. Learn More About Camp Mabry HERE! Howdy, PRO.
Has your weather improved at last or are y’all still freezing?
Been mighty wet here and it isn’t letting up for a while. Thankfully it’s rain and not snow.

Hiya radu!
It's still cold here but no new snow. The sun has been out enough to melt some of it and all the roads are passable again.
Son was off today so I brought lunch up to his place. Fish and chips for me and he had a mega bacon burger, LOL.
Now just relaxin'.
Howz things your way? You haven;t gotten any snow this year, have you?

No new snow is a plus, at least. You’re probably ready to say goodbye to the cold though.
Mmmmmm. Fish and chips sounds mighty tasty. Now I’ve got a hankerin’. LOL! That huge burger sounds like something Hubby would order. Burp
Things are going ok here other than getting moldy from all the rain lately. Been busy cleaning out a lot of the junk in Clara’s part of this house now that Hubby’s finally gotten motivated to help. Taking a break tonight to give my poor aching back a rest.

That makes sense, no doubt.
But we aren’t going to be that cold so rain over snow works just fine for us. LOL

I’m right there with ya on that. We had it yesterday and tomorrow will be the same. Then we warm up but will still be wet for the next week.
Gonna need a boat to get around at this rate.
