A Clemson philosophy argued recently that he wants all humans to die off as a punishment for their treatment of animals and the environment. Since his article was published in the New York Times, he has refused to defend his opinion.
According to a report from The College Fix, Clemson University Professor Todd May recently called for the end of human existence and has refused to defend his argument. May argued that humans do far more bad than good. What are humanitys worst crimes according to the professor? These include oppression of animals and destruction of the environment.
The New York Times column, which was titled Would Human Extinction Be a Tragedy? was published in late December. In the column, May weighs humanitys positive contributions to the world against its negative contributions.
First, human contribution to climate change is devastating ecosystems, as the recent article on Yellowstone Park in The Times exemplifies. Second, increasing human population is encroaching on ecosystems that would otherwise be intact. Third, factory farming fosters the creation of millions upon millions of animals for whom it offers nothing but suffering and misery before slaughtering them in often barbaric ways. There is no reason to think that those practices are going to diminish any time soon. Quite the opposite. Humanity, then, is the source of devastation of the lives of conscious animals on a scale that is difficult to comprehend.
And then May hit his readers with his conclusion. It may well be, then, that the extinction of humanity would make the world better off and yet would be a tragedy. I dont want to say this for sure, since the issue is quite complex, May wrote. But it certainly seems a live possibility, and that by itself disturbs me.

Yay! Be gay with Gaia!
A out 100,000 volts should do the trick..
Lol. That made me dizzy. But in a good way. Truly profound. I think. So it must be really smart because I don’t understand it. ; )
You first, Prof. Show us how it is done.
Like I always say to these folks....”Set the example and make yourself extinct....or shaddup...”
This is too easy...
Does being a college Professor make you stupid?
Why doesn’t he start the ball rolling?
I don’t think liberals realize how much they’re ripping off Christianity. Excuse me, appropriating it. Yet they leave out the hope and redemption.
They imagine the world without people as a Garden of Eden paradise. Environmentalists imagine that paradise on Earth, too, but the rest of us either have to convert or die to get it. Death to the unbelievers who are killing us all with their hate speech and toxic possessions.
You good members will be child-free while the mediocre will have just one child - sacrifice the rest to Mommy Earth. No celibacy, though - have lots of sex, just don’t have children.
They’re taking the concept of original sin and smearing all of humanity as evil, but lack any redemptive elements. You are, at best, to be tolerated by Mommy Earth and at worst to be punished with horrors appropriated from the Book of Revelations.
The air will turn to hot ash, the seas will boil, there will be quakes and fires, there will be famine and pestilence and death, and you evil unbelievers deserve it for you didn’t heed the Earth Worshipers’ word. Their prior false predictions are to be ignored, we really promise it will end in 12 more years.
Just enough of me, way too many of you.
Start with himself?
He might need a volunteer or two to help. He wont have a problem in upstate South Carolina.
College Prof becomestupid?
If you put an idiot through college, you get out an educated idiot.
Remember a lot of these type college profs do this to get their name in the papers. Publically be bashed by conservatives, makes them a hero to their peers.
Amen on getting rid of the ridiculous Lib Arts curriculum in schools of supposed “higher learning”.
Philosophy is one where you sit around eating magic mushrooms while toking on a big bong and try to write down all of the screwy ideas that pop into your head.
Then you, the Professor, go to your classroom and preach the BS to the empty heads sitting in the chairs.
Great example of the gibberish that flows from the Philosophy types! ....They memorize multi-syllabic words and then link them together in sentences that are only non-sense.
...I had to take one semester of Phil. and don’t know how I passed, as I barely understood anything that was said.
Liberty Univ.
College of the Ozarks (very interesting, Google)
he should start with his family
As a professor, he should lead by example.
The bigger question is “Why do taxpayer supported colleges & universities continue to pay for this this type of idiocy?”
...
The crooks in government will pay for any climate change propaganda, which is what the original NYTimes article is.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/17/opinion/human-extinction-climate-change.html
Read his expertise!
... writes on topics of anarchism, poststructuralism, and post-structuralist anarchism. ....
Nothing to do with climate change or anything close to it!
My point was on his supposed academic expertise!
I witch doctor has more useful things to say!
