If the cartels paid a $100 million bribe to the former President of Mexico, I wonder who the cartels are paying to stop the construction of the wall?

Drugs or alcohol were involved in 90%+ of my cases, but they’re not counted that way.
Theft isn’t “heroin-addiction theft,” it’s called theft–but it’s for heroin.
Most cases I saw involved some sort of distorted thinking that substance abuse turned into a crime.
Most shoplifting, car burglaries, home burglaries, and thefts involved drug use.
Home invasion cases usually involved drug dealers.
Armed robberies usually involved drug use.
Most domestic batteries, which are common, involved alcohol.
But the more sadistic violent crimes (using weapons, strangulation, severe injury) usually involved more aggression-inducing drugs, such as meth, cocaine, or spice (which is terrible, like PCP)
The really crazy stuff almost always involved methamphetamine, spice, and to a lesser extent, cocaine.
And by “crazy” I mean irrational crimes like burglarizing a house to steal crafting supplies, attacking someone for no reason on the street, or spray-painting someone’s face.
The worst part is that the career criminals were almost always career addicts.
The prison terms would increase each time, with each release eventually becoming a return to prison for something related to the drug, usually meth, crack cocaine, or heroin.
And many (I’d say most) people using drugs over the long have children.
And the kids often get taken away by the state, especially if the defendant is a single mother.
I’ve seen parents throw in the towel and terminate parental rights due to drug abuse. It’s not uncommon.
Another strange phenomenon is the creation of a drug-fueled community, where nearly everyone who lives within a certain area is an addict.
They tend to rob, steal, and batter each other. Today’s victim becomes tomorrow’s witness and the next day’s perpetrator.

Some of the prosecutors I knew would call victims of aggressive crimes outside of these areas “civilians.” They tended to be punished more harshly, and witnesses were more likely to cooperate, so it was riskier for the defendants to commit crimes outside the boundaries.
Most “civilian” victims were either socially familiar with the defendant (for example, a heroin-addicted child stealing from parents), or lived just outside an area that had rampant drug abuse.
I never saw a “home invasion” robbery that didn’t involve a drug dealer’s house.
I worked on a few federal cases involving high-level drug trafficking. Both involved defendants who were here illegally, huge amounts of drugs, and large networks.
Doctor shopping cases were huge a few years ago, but the feds cracked down on the doctors and they decreased.
I represented several illegal immigrants. Most were orange-pickers and maids who committed lifestyle crimes while living here (driving without a valid license). Most weren’t real criminals.
I heard stories about virtual slavery at some employers–forced to live and work there.
An open border is terrible for everyone.
Readily-available drugs fuel all types of crime, which in turn rips apart families, which fuels the wholesale destruction of neighborhoods, which then leads to lousy schools and a permanent underclass.
It’s a vicious circle.
The people who are involved in this lifestyle–whether voluntarily or not–tend to use a LOT of government services, which gets a lot of private contractors rich.
It’s like defense contractors supplying a war. They have an incentive to lobby hard for NO solution.
And that’s probably one of the top reasons we’re seeing the Democrats (1) want to sign up illegal immigrants for every type of benefit, (2) not deport anyone, and (3) not enforce the border.
The initial care for one illegal immigrant child can be worth $50,000 in contracts.
Downstream, there’s a lot of money involved in drug crimes.
Not just incarceration, but every other type of benefit targeting broken homes, foster care, medical providers, grocery assistance, public transport, etc
A single drug addict can cause a lot of money to change hands.
And the places using the most of these programs, by and large, are the types of urban areas that elect Democrats.
For example, 10% of Baltimore is addicted to heroin, which also has the 5th highest crime rate (lots of services needed there).
90% of US heroin comes from Mexico.
A REAL barrier would stop migrants who come for work (or mule drugs by foot), who can’t scale a 30-foot fence in the middle of nowhere.
The Border Patrol would also have more personnel (and likely more cash) to search more cargo and look for more underground tunnels.
The whole thing could result in removing a huge percentage of the fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and spice from the entire market.
If that happens, everyone in the drug-related services industry suffers, as well as megabanks that launder billions for the cartels.
So the Democrat pontificating about “immorality” is a lot more similar to Halliburton milking the US during the Iraq War than it is to anything in the Bible.
Their entire strategy, from the welfare state to felons voting, depends on a porous border.
It’s a disaster for them."

Back in the 50s they warned the public about the commies using drugs and moral degradation to conquer America. Well folks here we are.
They are paying off the mayors of cities in the USA. Otherwise the drugs would be stopped.

Makes a lot of sense to me. And all those people who are dependent on the government and all those people making money from the suffering will not hold crooked politicians accountable.
If it were the cartels, i doubt the caravans would have survived.
