AG nominee Barr backs off past Clinton Foundation comments
ABC News ^ | January 16, 2018 | Laura Jarrett

Attorney General nominee Bill Barr reaffirmed Tuesday that, if confirmed, he would allow special counsel Robert Mueller to finish the Russia investigation, but Barr's testimony surrounding a prior eyebrow-raising claim that more should be done to investigate the Clinton Foundation, and his related correspondence with a reporter on that issue, has caught the attention of his critics and raises fresh questions on how he'd handle the issue if confirmed.

Barr was interviewed by The New York Times in the fall of 2017 about the pressure President Donald Trump continued to mount on the Justice Department to investigate his political foes. The Times' Peter Baker reported at the time that some conservatives had latched onto a theory that a Russian energy nuclear agency donated to the Clinton Foundation in order to later secure Hillary Clinton's approval of its purchase of a uranium mining company when she was secretary of state -- otherwise referred to as "the Uranium One scandal" by some in conservative media.

DC is over run with corruption. Is there such a thing as an honest lawyer in DC?

My question to Mr. Barr:

Given the demonstrated corruption at the DOJ/FBI wherein high ranking officials of both have been implicated in what many have called a “coup” against the President would you agree that because most Americans feel there is a two tier justice system in America and that to not investigate Hillary Clinton’s alleged crimes that FBI Director Comey inappropriately dismissed would justify their thinking that the DOJ/FBI is illegitimate?

As a certified Bushie, Barr has one big problem: the Bushes and Clintons are, together, up the their eyeballs in the Clintons’ corruption; indeed to the extent that their foundations shared the same URL for their websites. If Barr pursues any investigation that approaches the Witch she’ll call W and suggest that, being in the same boat, he should call Barr and tell him not to torpedo their boat.

Former Bush AG. More bad advice given to Trump by those around him that are swamp protectors themselves.

What do you expect him to say, “I’m going after the Clinton Foundation Day 1 and making my life long goal to destroy them?” C’mon...that only happens in your mind and the movies...this is perfunctory Q&A to get confirmed...then judge based on performance...

The swamp is deep and wide and lots of dangerous critters lurk in its depths!

Tread very carefully. If you think you can trust them, you are probably wrong.

The more I hear about this guy, the less I think he is the best pick. He seems to be waaaaay too friendly to Mueller et al. He seems to be in a Bush-era time warp. In all of this great and talented country, isn’t there someone else equally professionally qualified, without the taint of the Swamp?

If he said he had no knowledge of uranium one, how could he make this decision?

“I didn’t particularly think that was necessarily something that should be pursued aggressively,”
