First it was paper bags.
Now it’s plastic bags.
Cloth bags are unsanitary.

What are people supposed to do?..................

Between Newsom in CA, de Blaiso and Cuomo in NY, we seem to be raising up a crop of wanna be dictators.

I’ll use cloth bags and simply wash them occasionally. Watching the plastic bags fly like ghosts when the Arizona desert wind blows is horrid.

The strangest thing is, if exposed to sunlight, plastic bags degrade quickly to near dust. A better way to take care of the plastic bags is to recycle them to another use. Plastic bags are made from a byproduct of refining organic oil. Newspaper and magazines btw, take centuries to degrade if they end up in landfills, maybe no different or worse than plastic.

Lunacy, but that being said, you would think that someone would be producing a cost competitive biodegradable bag by now.

To: lowbridge; All

LefTards won’t be happy until we’re all roaming around naked, living in caves and carrying things around in our hands.

And even THEN...they won’t be happy!

I, for one, use sturdy boxes and cloth bags for carrying ‘stuff.’ I have for years.

HOWEVER, were I ‘TOLD’ that I had to live the way I live, I’d tell ‘em to p*ss off, LOL!

The effort is to combat litter because plastic bags do not biodegrade.

Yes, that's one of the reasons they were introduced in the first place - they could be re-used indefinitely for multiple things. It was a great idea - no need to double bag paper, no heavy items tearing open paper. But of course the enviro-cultists want another convenience for the hoi-polloi gone to serve another of their meaningless symbolic gestures, so it is.

“The effort is to combat litter because plastic bags do not biodegrade.”

This is the same crap stated by our lovely city govt and the soft headed liberals who support it. It had to be pointed out that the litter on the ground they couldn’t see from the seat of their cars was also not biodegradable. It is only appearance that matters to leftists, and a “fence flag” plastic bag is such a tiny fraction of the litter problem, but it’s all they see.

I suggest to all the leftists I speak with on the topic; Get out of your Prius and take the bag off the fence. If every Prius driving whiner removed just one plastic bag from a fence a month, there would be no plastic bags on fences.

This is simply conditioning folks. It’s designed to get people more and more used to authoritarian government and comply accordingly. Has nothing to do with saving the environment or what not.

Will cuomo be also banning the dog poop bags? They're not as biodegradable as the white plastic bags.

What will happen if people start buying white kitchen garbage bags and use them at the check out, will he ban those also?

Why is there no discussion about the truly one time use black hefty bags?

My idea is that everybody should have to go grocery shopping with one of these (or more if a large shopping trip is planned).

Supermarkets should supply them to customers with a $100 deposit. When the customer returns, they get their $100 deposit back but then they have to put down another $100 deposit on another one before they leave the store. The customer can choose to bring their own but they will need to get it licensed by the state ($50 annual fee) and a sticker will be put on the cart accordingly to show the store that this is a licensed state-sanctioned basket.

If the customer does not return to the supermarket within 14 days, they lose their deposit and will either need to license the one they just "bought" or they need to suck it up and go to the store and pay another $100 for another cart.

I think this is the only logical way to go about this.
