CNN: The 1 giant question Donald Trump still hasn't answered on Russia
CNN ^ | 01/14/2019 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 01/14/2019 1:30:44 PM PST by SeekAndFind

President Donald Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House Monday that suggestions he was some sort of Russian agent were totally ridiculous, and insisted that the entire special counsel investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election is a "whole big fat hoax."

It's in keeping with his broader approach to the question of Russia's election meddling efforts and ties between those close to his campaign and actors for foreign powers: This is all a sham. Special counsel Robert Mueller is out to get him -- as is the entire FBI. They've got nothing. (The 192 criminal counts, 36 people and entities charged, seven people who have pleaded guilty, the four people sentenced to prison and the one person convicted at trial as a result of the Mueller probe make clear, of course, that Trump is wrong.)

But even if you ignore all of those facts about the Mueller investigation, there's still one question I keep coming back to over the last 48 hours: Why did Trump go out of his way to ensure that no records of his meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin exist?

Who made the arrangements for Hillary to sell 20% of our Uranium to Russia ... Who negotiated the ‘deal’ so Hillary and Bill the rapist were able to collect millions of dollars for ‘speeches’ in Russia??

Why weren't those meetings public?

Why didn't the Washington Post give a damn about it?

Lots of us have questions...

It’s hard to say whether I have less respect for the people who actually believe the Russian collusion hoax (assuming that there are actually some who genuinely believe that Trump is a Putin puppet) or those who are just cynically using it for their own purposes.

Except that his whole paragraph of indictments, charges, pleas, and guilties ALL have NOTHING to do with the Trump campaign, which makes Trump correct not wrong.

And when you consider all of the leaks of his discussions with foreign leaders alone, I would expect nothing less than high personal secrecy of any foreign policy meetings.

Gee they are treating this the way the press treated FDR’s staying in the Soviet Embassy in Terhan in 43 with only Harry Hopkins and no translator. And the meeting with Stalin, wigh only Stalin’s translator present. I remember reading about the cries of treason and impeschment from the press...oh wait...never mind.

But Trump did inform his advisors on the gist of the meeting. Why shouldn’t he have the interpreter’s notes? After being In office for a few weeks, the transcript of Trump’s telephone call with the PM of Australia was leaked to the public. Who can Trump trust?

Why doesn't Chris Cillizza ask a few 'hard' questions of democrats... ever? Lots of us have questions...most of us make an effort to be fair.

The simple answer is to just go back to that disgraceful episode where the transcript of the President’s entire conversation with the Australian PM was leaked to the media.

No, CNN is wrong. THE BIG QUESTION is: “Why on Earth would Putin and the rest of the Russian leadership have ever wanted Donald Trump to be President of the US?”

Trump promised to unleash our oil industry (and did), which would necessarily lead to lower oil and NG prices, which would severely hurt the Russian economy (much as the Reagan-Casey engineered huge spike in Saudi production in the mid-’80s helped to destroy the Soviet economy). Further, he promised to substantially increase spending on the US military (much as Reagan’s huge build-up helped to bankrupt the Soviets).

Compare and contrast to Hillary, who promised to continue or accelerate Obama’s destruction of our fossil fuel energy companies (maybe because the HUGE donors to the Clinton Foundation were Arab/OPEC nations??), and said nothing about our military (though has long been known to have contempt for our military and expanding its power).

Finally, they had nothing on Trump with which to blackmail him...vs. a huge file on the entire Uranium One deal with which to blackmail Hillary.

I’m sure this guy also asked why Obama went to great lengths to conceal his college records.

I go out of my way to avoid CNN and WP because they always lie. Why would I want to read it on FR?

Making up more $h!t. Not surprised though. They have to grasp at straws since it is all falling apart on them. I am very saddened by the “fact” (expected fact) that none of these lying a$$holes will ever see the inside of a cell.

Why on Earth would Putin and the rest of the Russian leadership have ever wanted Donald Trump to be President of the US?

I think I can answer that. I truly believe that Putin originally wanted Hillary Clinton to win, because he knew damn well that she was thoroughly corrupt and easily bought.

I suspect he had a change of heart during the 2016 campaign when information started to come out about the transcripts of her speeches to Goldman Sachs executives ... because he knew Russia was never going to be the highest bidder for her services.

"Cillizza is one one CNN’s biggest dem buttlicks."

I used to listen to Hugh Hewitt on the radio now and then. He had this idiot on quite often and I never understood why. I guess it is the same reasoning that Fox uses to nauseate their audiences with people like Chris Hahn and Geraldo.

Oh well, anti-Trumper Hewitt is gone for me and so is Fox.

The Left manufactures a lie and then demands Trump to defend himself.
