Democratic Rep. André Carson made news last week by predicting that there could be as many as 30 to 35 Muslims in Congress and possibly even a Muslim president or vice president by the year 2030.
Speaking to attendees at a Community Congressional Reception hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Thursday, the Indiana congressman welcomed newly elected Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib - both of whom were in attendance and spoke later - and celebrated the likelihood that their election victories were just the tip of the iceberg thats to come.
Its more than just about having three Muslims in Congress, said Carson. I think symbolically it has great value, but I wont rest until 2020 we have five more members of Congress; 2022 and 24, we have 10 more Muslims in Congress. In 2030 we may have about 30, 35 Muslims in Congress.
Then were talking about Madame Chair Rashida, he continued. Were talking about Madame Chair Ilhan. Hell, we could be saying Speaker of the House Ilhan, Speaker of the House Rashida, Senator Rashida, Governor Ilhan, President Fatima, Vice President Aziza. Inshallah [God - or Allah - willing].
Carson concluded by saying that all Muslims in America have a directive to represent Islam, in all of our imperfections, but to represent Islam and let the world know that Muslims are here to stay, and Muslims are a part of America. And we will, we will have a Muslim caucus that is sizable, that is formidable, and that is there for you.
Its all been a pretty big story, in conservative circles at least, because of something we all know, but arent supposed to say out loud. If Rep. Carson were, say, an Eagle Scout celebrating the political rise of other Eagle Scouts and predicting even more to come because of the wonderful leadership training program scouting provides (or once provided), nobody would bat an eye. If Rep. Carson were celebrating the rise of fellow African-Americans, especially if he were doing it in front of a group of black Democrats AND Republicans, most Americans, conservative and liberal alike, would celebrate with him.
But Carson isnt doing any of those things. Instead, he is pointing to the political ascendancy of members of a religious group as a good thing based simply on the fact that they are members of that religious group. (Imagine, just for a moment, the holy hell that would ensue from the left if a Christian leader did that today.)
But even so, is Carson right? Will a sizeable Muslim caucus emerge in United States politics in the near future. And if so, would that be a good thing for America?
The first question is tough to see, at least by 2030. PEW Research predicts the Muslim population in the United States could reach 8.1 million by 2050. If so, it would comprise 2.1 percent of the total population, almost twice the current 1.1 percent share. Sounds reasonable. However, the same article acknowledges that the Muslim population has been growing rapidly from its originally small base due to higher fertility rates among Muslim Americans as well as the continued migration of Muslims to the U.S. Assuming the Congressional share of Muslims hovers around their overall representation, that would mean about 11 lawmakers by 2050, up from three today. So it would appear that Carson is at least a generation off with his prediction.
Thanks to its physical proximity to Muslim countries so many are desperate to leave, Western Europe is in an entirely different situation. According to PEW Research, the share of Muslims on the continent grew from 19.5 million to 25.8 million (from 3.8 percent to almost 5 percent) from 2010 to 2016 alone. By 2050, the share of the continents population that is Muslim could more than double, rising to 11.2% or more, depending on how much migration is allowed into Europe, writes PEW, adding that even if migration were permanently halted (something we all know probably wont happen anytime soon), the relative youth and high fertility rates of Muslims currently living in Europe would still cause the population to rise to 7.4 percent.
Some countries project even higher in 2050, should migration continue at current rates - Germany at 19.7 percent, UK at 17.2 percent, France at 18 percent and Sweden at 30.6 percent.
What isnt projected, and what isnt generally spoken of in polite circles, is where things go from there. Given Muslim birth and immigration rates as well as Europes aging population, how soon does a 30.6 percent in, say, Sweden turn into 50.1 percent and a Muslim majority? When this happens, what does that portend for Europe and the rest of the West, including America? Granted, Muslim immigration to the U.S. is hindered by geography, but the overall patterns are unmistakable even here (as André Carson, part of a growing demographic of U.S.-born Muslims, likely well knows), even if a generation or two removed.
Its passé in todays politically correct society to suggest that immigration should be halted or even limited based on a religion or even a point of origin. President Trump was excoriated for even the perception that he was instituting a Muslim ban on travel, although was he was actually proposing was light years from that. These sorts of demographics arent supposed to matter or be taken into consideration whatsoever, because political correctness and vague concepts of social justice trump observable reality, at least in the warped minds of our elites.
Yes, most individual Muslims are doubtless good people who, like most immigrants, simply want the best for themselves and their families. But you can do your own research and come to your own conclusions on the virtues and drawbacks of Muslim majority countries. (I will ask this though - If they are so great, why are so many people itching to leave them?)
You can also decide for yourself whether or not you want to live in one.
For now.
Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, on the other hand, may not be so fortunate.

Thank the True GOD (not “Allah”), I’ll be out of here before then.
We’ve already had a Muslim President.
We’re. So. Screwed.
America-Hating Democrats and Feckless RINOs. Oy!
The real question should be: “Why does it matter?” There is supposed to be a separation of church and state. This is finally a Muslim who is coming out and saying that Islam is NOT a religion, but a political entity originally intended to be a warrior’s code, much like Japanese Bushido.
Probably... Islam is metastasizing everywhere.
Will it matter??
Regardless of what you think of Milo Yiannopoulos, his lifestyle choices, etc., read his piece on what is going on in Britain.
Why Im Seeking Asylum In America

We have had a moslem President. He was the head mo ham mad of DC for eight plus years
In 50 years, when America is no more, muslims and mexicans will be fighting a pitched battle over what is currently the American landmass.
The muzzie camel nose is already in the tent and their gov’t buddies want to disarm Americans.
It figures. Muslims = taqiyya = liars. Democrats = liars. Birds of a feather thing. Muslims in Congress should not have national security clearances.
They vote as a block too - they don’t need to be a majority, just largely influential...they’ll push policies they want by threatening to support the opposition (to a politician) and scream “racist” at anyone that doesn’t submit.
This is the UK right now.
The main aspect we must expose is that Islam is comes with a political ideology and system of LAW. You cannot separate Islam from Sharia. We must scream that unless you want Sharia, which is totalitarian and the antithesis of our values, to REPLACE our laws then we must loudly reject Islam as an ideology.
It is not just a religion - in fact, the “religion” part just makes it a Trojan horse to infiltrate and take over a society. Anything that doesn’t allow you to leave is more of a cult than a religion.
Sooner. And it’s a disaster. There are only 4 that I know of, and they are already causing more trouble than they are worth. They are not in Congress to help this country, but to help establish sharia, and therefore took the oath of office illegally.
Closer to 2020.
Good point. If muslim is just another religion then why does HE think it matters? hmmm

Amazing what the heck crawls around the halls of CONgre$$ these days, huh?
Leaving behind who to face what? If you're alone, I get it. If not these are the thoughts I can't reconcile with my demise.
