Trump campaign manager hits back at Romney over op-ed slamming president's character

President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager on Tuesday fired back after Sen.-elect Mitt Romney (R-Utah) wrote a searing op-ed criticizing the president's character.

In a tweet, Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale invoked Romney’s failed 2012 presidential bid, accusing the incoming senator of lacking the ability "to save this nation."

“The truth is @MittRomney lacked the ability to save this nation. @realDonaldTrump has saved it,” Parscale wrote on Twitter. “Jealously is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it. So sad, I wish everyone had the courage @realDonaldTrump had.”

Parscale’s reaction came shortly after Romney penned a Washington Post op-ed slamming Trump’s character and his time in office.

"With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring," Romney wrote.

Romney, who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, spoke out against Trump during the 2016 election.

“It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination,” Romney wrote. “After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion.”

After two years in office, Romney wrote that Trump had not “risen to the mantle of the office.”

Romney’s remarks came two days before he will be sworn into Senate on Thursday.

“I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault,” he wrote. “But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.”

Obama was a better option in 2012. A “President RomneeeBitch” would have lead to a GOP establishment that we may have never had the chance to overcome.

Romney on Ted Kennedy: "In 1994, I joined the long list of those who ran against Ted and came up short. But he was the kind of man you could like even if he was your adversary."

So, Trump is less moral and has a lesser character than Ted Kennedy? Really? For all of these overrated and under talented POS, the biggest sin of Trump is that he exposes just how pathetic, ineffective, and talentless most in politics are, and how underserving of respect they are. It really is that simple.

He thinks he’s the crab in the crab pot that, when he pulls Trump down, will finally be the first to leave the pot and be free from negative repercussions from the MSM.

He’s wrong and stupid.

It seems Flake, Hatch, Romney, and Love have something in common that makes them totally untrustworthy in anything in life, including in public life.

I wonder what that disgusting factor would be...?

.@MittRomney's "character":
2012: Seeks @realDonaldTrump's endorsement, gets it.
2016 (Mar.): Trashes Trump.
2016 (Nov.): Crawls to Trump, asks to be Sec'y of State.
2018: Seeks Trump's backing for Senate, gets it.
2019: Trashes Trump in @washingtonpost.

“Just as well that Obama thrashed him.”

Seriously, with Romney the slow death would have went on unnoticed as it did with Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush II. Obama made death to America so obvious we got Trump. The best thing obama ever did was keep Romney out of the WH.

I think from this point on, we should use the term ‘mini-McCain’ for Romney.

A Romney win in 2012 would have probably done to the GOP nationally what Schwartzenegger did to it locally in California: kill it dead. Arnold ran as a right-of-center guy, governed as a RINO lefty and when his lefty policies crumbled the state, Californians said “see, i told you conservatism is a disaster” and gave up on the GOP completely at the state level. I heard it personally while I temporarily lived there at the time.

How about standing for “republican” institutions, sir? Do you stand for those? Do you even truly understand what they are, their significance, sir?

He did it because he knows the press will start swooning over him now and giving him LOADS of attention. There’s nothing they love more than a Republican who attacks other Republicans.

Wait for calls for a Romney/Mattis ticket for President. (Which of course the press will throw under the bus as soon as the Dems nominate someone.)

One of the biggest issues with all Congress-critters is that they are so fenced in by their staff that they never hear what’s going on in the real world. They truly live in an echo chamber. So when you’re a douche like Romney, everyone just nods and agrees without ever telling him that he’s being an idiot.

This op ed was completely unnecessary...

...unless you’re a douche in an echo chamber.

That’s the thing! These asshat Never Trumpers really think if Trump is removed, the conservative base will get fired up and support them! They don’t realize that Trump has utterly destroyed the RINO/Rockefeller wing of the GOP forever!
