Working on Christmas Eve and through the government shutdown over border wall funding, President Donald Trump tweeted he had authorized the construction of a 115-mile stretch of border wall in Texas.

"I am in the Oval Office & just gave out a 115 mile long contract for another large section of the Wall in Texas," President Trump tweeted Monday night. "We are already building and renovating many miles of Wall, some complete.

"Democrats must end Shutdown and finish funding. Billions of Dollars, & lives, will be saved!"

Working in the Oval Office after canceling his trip to Mar-a-Lago in Florida because of the shutdown, President Trump met Monday with Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and other officials to discuss border security issues as a partial government shutdown over his U.S.-Mexico border wall entered Christmas without a clear resolution in sight.

Though both sides have traded offers over the dollars, they remain far apart on the wall. The White House insisted Trump will reject any deal that does not include money for a wall or fence; Democrats held firm in their opposition to a wall or other physical barrier.

In a joint statement Monday, the Democratic leaders of Congress, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, said as long as Trump keeps listening to the House Freedom Caucus and others on the right flank, there is no easy resolution to the impasse.

Since he stepped off the escalator. Definitely created chaos among the GOP establishment elites. Put them in an unrecoverable tailspin. And the media. They still can’t figure him out. Can’t lay a glove on him. And set Obama, Hillary and the democrats smirking. Now their heads too are spinning in chaos as PRESIDENT Trump begins securing the nation and draining the swap. Go ahead Schumer, make my day. Keep the non-essential government shut down til hell freezes over. MAGA!!

Best election, best POTUS, evah!

The Turkey Syria wall is actually 515 miles long along the entire border & was built to prevent illegal alien entry & smuggling. I suspect that Turkey has severe penalties for crossing it

No chaos in PA.Just a quiet, peaceful Christmas day. Of course, I haven’t a Liberal within 1,000 feet of me, either.

Same in this family. However, my trusted neighbor's wife refuses to go this morning for a brunch with the lib family. Finally this good natured women has had it with that den of libs.

Trump has thhhis right! Even though he can use DOD money, by not signing the funding bill that does not include the funding it will keep the courts at bay. But if the bill will not fund then he must not sign it until the wall is done. Otherwise the courts will have him in a “catch 22”. You send, if he starts using DOD money and thinks he is in the clear and then signs the bill, then the courts will injunct him and we will have no wall, and Trump loses leverage. If he uses military funding and does not sign a no wall bill, the courts will not step in. They will only cawardly step in if Trump signs a no wall bill and loses leverage, otherwise courts will not step in because they know damn well if they do then Trump will continue the shut down. Please Trump keep the legislature and the Roberts Obama court by the balls. Heed what I say here.

Synergy.

Thousands of shovel-ready construction jobs, outside in the Texas sun.

Thousands of furloughed Federal employees whining about how broke they are because of the shutdown.

Opportunity knocks.

Maybe a few weeks digging and mixing concrete will give those beltway snowflakes some perspective?

One of the wisest men in modern times said “Follow the money”, as it is a great motivator.

The imperative nature of the situation is not being realized by the Democrat party for one major reason. They are getting PAID during the shut down, along with their staff personnel.

Like I said, money is a great motivator. Why not have a presidential dictate that states that up to and until the budget problem is hammered out and agreed to in a bipartisan manner, during a shut down of any part of the government, all congressman and senators paychecks will be included in the shutdown. The President has discretion, to fund congress, or the senate, depending on their participation or completion thru congress, or the senate.

If you can’t control the people, control the purse strings.
This screams justification for term limits, and if necessary, a continental congress to enact changes by the people that do not hold sway by the members of congress or the senate.

It is a long held belief of mine that if the lawmakers, and law passers that impose their wisdom on the people, should, without exception, live within those requirements themselves. I think things would get much better for everyone very quickly.
