Americans have reached consensus on the need to act in response to climate change with one conspicuous exception: Republicans.
A new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll identifies that sharp break in the evolving pattern of public opinion as scientists have amplified their warnings of rising global temperatures and linked them to a range of natural disasters. Overall, 66 percent of Americans now say they've seen enough evidence to justify action, up from 51 percent two decades ago.
That figure incorporates 85 percent of Democrats, 79 percent of independents, 71 percent of women, 61 percent of men and strong majorities of all racial groups. At least 55 percent agree on the need for action in all regions of the country, and at all age, education and income levels.
Resistance comes only from the one-third of Americans who identify themselves as Republicans. A 56 percent majority of the GOP says either that concern about climate change is unwarranted or that more research is necessary before taking action.
A 52 percent majority says that failure to address climate change will cost more through the consequences of weather-related events such as droughts or floods. Just 35 percent say that action will raise energy prices and cost more.
Here, too, opinion breaks sharply by party. Some 63 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of independents say action will cost less than inaction. But just 35 percent of Republicans agree, outpaced by the 48 percent of Republicans who believe action will cost more.
The telephone survey of 900 adults was conducted Dec. 9-12. It carries a margin for error of 3.27 percentage points.

Paying someone taxes to save the world from the sun is beyond stupid. But then I have also observed sheep being herded to be sheared so I think I understand the impetus behind “climate change”.
In the last few years I have observed the artic growing warmer as the Antarctic grows colder while the east coast has record snowfall and flooding the west coast has drought.
So yes climate changes, it always has and always will.
There will always be con men too, it is as inevitable as the weather.

In Summer DONT turn on any air conditioning
STOP driving your car(s) - even those electric ones mostly use electricity created by burning fossil-fuels elsewhere (and include the upto 90% loss of that power on long instance power lines from distant hydroelectics)
Stop taking trips that burn auto gas that you could otherwise avoid
BUT YOU KNOW these ‘majority’ (who the leftists supposedly quote) aren’t really willing to do those things, and continue to “Rape Mother Gaia”. Hypocrites .

People are not nuts and bolts which the used statistical methods were developed for (production quality predictions of simple manufactured components).
The pushers of these bad statistics commit fraud every time they make a declaration using such inappropriate statistical methods (too tiny samples against complex human beliefs and understandings and regional differences and demographics).

While I don’t buy into all this crap...until I see China and India doing something significant to reduce their carbon footprint, I’m not interested - the only goal is to redistribute wealth.

Its so odd. People are so stupid. Its hard to even understand so much stupidity. The climate has been far hotter and far colder in the span of humanity, in the span of life on the planet, and any other significant span of earth. There was a jungle in northern Siberia. There was ice covering France. We had more hurricanes in the past and we had fewer as well.
But lets just say we want to slow down waste and pollution for the sheer benefit of making the earth easier for mankind. Thats OK. Then don’t worry about the US. We are pretty damned clean here. We could do better. But for the most part we are very efficient and clean comparatively. But we are 320 million out of 7 billion plus. What about Africa, India, China? When you go to the places where the worlds population is, there is lots of pollution. Its horrible. Its hard to breath. The water is undrinkable. And there is man made deforestation. If two countries, China and India, got their act together you could actually make a dent. But our trade policies let these two pollute far more than the western world could ever hope to pollute.
Climate changes. Its a nearly random system. That is to say that the earth as a system has so many variables that chaos theory applies. While there is actually a system working, its so complex that its best defined as random with in a range. And we are nowhere near the limits of the range.
Because on,y GOD can change the Climate!!
