(CBSLA/AP) Thousands of teachers who may go on strike against the nations second-largest school district next month marched and rallied in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday.
United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) union estimates 50,000 were there.
The crowd had relief from overcrowding at the top of their wish list.

UTLA teachers and supporters wore red for unity. They are seeing red over LAUSDs reluctance to part with more green.
I want to see investment in the schools and in the kids, said LAUSD parent Carmen Montecito.
UTLA says if LAUSD would just tap in to its almost $2 billion reserve fund it could solve a lot of problems.
Its unconscionable to hold on to that money acting like kids dont need it now. We need it now, said UTLA President Alex Caputo-Pearl.

Year in year out, these unionized azzholes want more and more even those these teacher union goons are some of the highest paid in the country.
Kids are as dumb as a box of rocks, the schools are more like mental health centers and family crisis baby sitting services than a house of learning
Parents all over the country ought to protest and strike against the whole damn public education system...
Marching, not teaching.
I was dropping my girls off at school one day and checked out some of the vehicles in the teacher’s parking lot. BMW, Escalades, Corvettes, etc.
are these the teachers leading American education into the toilet??
So, LA teachers will take a break from teaching small children that there are more than two genders and alternative sexual identities are normal? Sounds good to me.
...and then they give you a (long) list of supplies to buy each September and then redistribute the stuff to the poor kids.
I know states can’t technically “go bankrupt.”
Nonetheless, I want to see them default, especially on the pubic employees, ASAP
This might be a good thing, considering what they’re teaching children.
Ultra liberal civil war. I love it.
The LA school board waste huge amounts on ludicrous boondoggles.
There’s no reason to sued with either of these groups.
LA school district is way too big but they fight ferociously to not break it in to smaller more local districts.
How many times have we heard this LIE?
They only care about putting more money in THEIR pockets. PERIOD.
I don’t know why they even have to strike. The voters just let themselves be taxed for gasoline. All the teachers have to do is say boo and the politicians will give them what they want. This is kabuki theater.
US is number 1 in cost per student, and 13th is results.

Well I was in downtown LA last week and guess what I saw???
Thousands of homeless encampments on the side walks. Yes, the teachers want more money and what about the homeless living on the side walks with NO PLACE TO GO? LA is a third world country.
stop overcrowding?
Build the wall!
If they’re on strike, they’re not indoctrinating the children. So there’s that.
Yes everyone across the country is sending their homeless to LA and SF. Makes sense. They started this and they might as well live with it.
