Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich's chief political strategist has a message for President Donald Trump: "Be careful what you wish for."
Earlier, a Fox News interviewer asked the president about the possibility of Kasich or retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., running against him in 2020, and Trump responded, "I hope so."
John Weaver, the Kasich strategist, responded to the remark with a warning.
"Be careful what you wish for," Weaver said in a message to CNBC.

I think you’re right. A lot of bravado here but if he pulls 3-4% which l think he might in the Midwest it could be BIG problem because the Rats will stick with their own period, especially against Trump.
Beware! Trump may be Peroted. Without a run off he can be removed thanks to a 3rd Party run from his own Party. The Dem’s will more than gladly give them the funds to do it.
Kasich is not a Republican. Trump has taken over the party. Kasich has no chance. He would use the primary as a platform to run as an Independent ala John Anderson.
I heard Kasich’s father was a ‘Fluffer’ in Gay Porno films.
Kasich will receive more centrist democRat votes than from the republican base. Because the Kasich agenda is closer to centrist democRats than centrist republicans.
Kasich already ran against Trump once . . . and no one noticed.
Exactly, Perot was many things, but he wasn’t an open borders amnesty globalist pusher.

If a democrat in those states voted for Trump in 2016, it was almost certainly because Trump pledged to bring jobs back to the US; so what would inspire those same people to support Kasich in 2020? What has the Mailman ever done?
The question is whether it would hurt the Dems or the GOP.

Third party candidates don’t run to win; they run to sabotage the frontrunner. Bottom line.

If Kasich got 5 million votes, he could toss the election to the Democrats.
Perhaps Kasich is thinking of telling the truth, finally, and running as a democrat.

These are Kasich’s core beliefs, not old comments taken out of context. Kasich is a big government liberal who consistently opposes conservative positions and consistently opposes the rule of law. He’d fit right in with the Democrat establishment, even though he’s to the left of most democrat voters.
He has a narrative as a Republican - he's the anti-Trump - but he has nothing if he enters the Democratic primaries - he's just the guy at the end of the line with no real support from Democrats.
If Kasich gets 20% of the vote in a Republican primary he will promote it as a victory.
