I don’t understand the freakout over this deal, which looks like a pro move by McConnell. The GOP currently has a slim one -ote advantage in the Senate Judiciary Committee, with 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats. The new arrangement adds one Republican, so the new 12-10 mix gives the GOP a two-vote advantage - and without the quisling Jeff Flake to hold GOP nominees hostage. In exchange for keeping their obnoxious Jamaican-East Indian princess on the committee, the Democrats ceded any chance to oppose President Trump’s judicial nominees. I’ll take that trade in a heartbeat.

Camelface is never gonna make it to the final starting line anyway. Having a two vote majority in the Judiciary Committee is an insurance policy for the new Chairman, Lindsey Graham against another new Flake look alike (thinking Sasse wanting to make a name for himself?) temper tantrum.

I dont beleive the number of seats was shrinking. Without the deal the 21 seat split would go from 11/10 to 12/9. The GOP would add a seat thereby solving the Flake issue. Plus it would be 3 seat advantage instead of two.

Am I correct? If so, Mitch didn’t need this deal to offset a flake. So why do it?
