(Meredith) -- In honor of former President George H.W. Bush's funeral, the U.S. Postal Service says regular mail deliveries will be suspended on Wednesday.
The Postal Service will continue some delivery services in preparation for the holiday season.
"We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season, " the Postal Service said in a statement.
Figures. USPS won’t do their work anyway. Unless it’s to deliver my package to the house across the street or my pension check to someone a block away. Use UPS!!
You're supposed to "get" that GHWB was not only a great president, but he was mild-mannered, gentle, sweet of tongue, non-combative, etc.....all in contrast to that wild and violent you-know-who crazy now sitting in the Oval Office.
This is why the deification of Bush the Elder will continue till Trump is out of office...at which point, the former president will be dropped like a hot potato.

Mkay. His father was indicted for funding the Nazi regime at the same time he supposedly was a hero.
I say supposedly because his story was put in doubt a long time ago by a fellow vet.
Don’t ask me to “show you the evidence” either... google it yourself... or buy Family of Secrets the book.
There is something wrong with any Judeo Christian conservative who is “for” Bush. Seriously wrong.
“We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season, “
Let me translate that for you: We will continue delivering Amazon packages as normal.
Paid day off?
Nope. They’ll be busy delivering Amazon’s packages.
P.S.
You know decorated and valiant WWII vet, Bob Dole didn’t think as highly as you of George H.W. Bush’s service record...
... instead he said to Bush at a 1980 debate:
“Some day I’ll get you, you f ing Nazi!”
So he’d heard the rumors about Bush’s war service, too.
:
Why did they choose to deliver Amazon stuff but will decline to deliver regular USPS mail? Is Amazon paying more? They can’t break their lucrative contract with Amazon?
So I guess honor and remembrance have zip to do with this huh?
I totally agree.
President Bush was not so much a great man, but he had great moments, and he played a significant role throughout much of our nation’s history.
He was the youngest naval aviator when he joined in WWII, carried out many missions, and his plane was was shot down in flames.
Two of his crewmen died but he survived, and while floating in the water he was strafed by a Japanese fighter plane and then rescued by a sub.
He went on to establish a career in oil and held numerous major government positions, including the highest office in our land.
I, for one...am glad we are pausing to honor his memory.
I also agree with the post office closing, as it did for Reagan, Ford and others. We ship dozens of packages every day during the Christmas season and this closing will hurt us, but I respect the fact that we are pausing as a nation to honor George Herbert Walker Bush.
Even though conservatives had much to disagree with him about, he could be considered a giant by his numerous pivotal roles throughout our country’s modern era.

Well said...
I also support it...
Traditions of respect and honor are what gives a common identity to this nation.

You bet Ed! That’s what it’s all about, paying postal workers not to deliver the mail! It’s what makes this country great!~
Every single businessman I know gives their employees Federal holidays off, including us.
If we demanded our employees work on Easter, Christmas, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Independence Day, I’d dasn’t say we’d soon end up with no employees!
Ed
I’ll let ya’ in on a secret, they also don’t ship on Christmas Day!
Nor easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and a couple of more.
Yeah, in the United States (I guess you live in a foreign country?) there are days called Federal Holidays, where the vast majority of workers don’t work.
They have the day off to honor their beloved dead from wars. They honor Veterans. They worship the birth and resurrection of Jesus and it’s just the way America ended up...certain days are honored by most employers and governments as days when their workers don’t have to work.
I assume you’re working this Christmas? As you worked Thanksgiving Day? In whatever country you live in?
Ed
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"
Unless it's a chance for another paid day off.
Yeah, like Easter, Christmas, Independence Day and such...the selfish varmits!
Ed
Since when is this coming Wednesday a national holiday like the other legitimate ones you mention?
The discussion has quickly gone from postal workers being paid not to deliver the mail, to the resurrection of Jesus. Fascinating!
Bush is dead, I’m not. Deliver the mail.
Will they pick up outgoing mail? Some of us have bills to pay on time.
