I totally agree.
President Bush was not so much a great man, but he had great moments, and he played a significant role throughout much of our nation’s history.
He was the youngest naval aviator when he joined in WWII, carried out many missions, and his plane was was shot down in flames.
Two of his crewmen died but he survived, and while floating in the water he was strafed by a Japanese fighter plane and then rescued by a sub.
He went on to establish a career in oil and held numerous major government positions, including the highest office in our land.
I, for one...am glad we are pausing to honor his memory.
I also agree with the post office closing, as it did for Reagan, Ford and others. We ship dozens of packages every day during the Christmas season and this closing will hurt us, but I respect the fact that we are pausing as a nation to honor George Herbert Walker Bush.
Even though conservatives had much to disagree with him about, he could be considered a giant by his numerous pivotal roles throughout our country’s modern era.
