South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott announced Thursday he will oppose embattled judicial nominee Thomas Farr, in a reversal of his position a day earlier that seemingly ends the nominee's chances for now amid fierce criticism by civil rights groups.
Democratic lawmakers and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) have long cited Farr's work on the campaigns of North Carolina Republican Sen. Jesse Helms in 1984 and 1990. Farr was first nominated to the federal court in the Eastern District of North Carolina by former President George W. Bush in 2006, but never received a confirmation vote.
Farr was specifically criticized at the time for allegedly working on the Helms campaign's behalf to distribute 120,000 postcards, primarily to black voters, to discourage voting, something he denied knowing anything about.

So Hillary knew Sen. Bryd she should have never been confirmed.
Oh look. Another black ‘conservative’ who is black before being conservative.
Imagine that.
“The failure to gain more than two seats is already showing whats ahead for the next two years in the Senate by Scott signaling with this move that hes going to join the RNO Resistance bloc of Romney, Collins, and Murkowski.”
Uhhh, the entire republican senate is made up of rinos and neverTrumpers. Most voted for hillary. They are not on Trump’s side and never have been.
I must be watching a different movie than the rest of you here.
Too bad Demint retired. Can’t blame him though. Who’d want that job? Only a two faced crooked liar, I guess.
Wonder what they paid this Rat?
There will be a rebellion by the citizens for all this BS, hopefully sooner than later and it will not be peaceful.
SC can do say better .
Never was impressed by this idiot .
Scott’s refusal only reminds me of that old saying, “What goes around will come around”. My guess Scott will “pay”, it may take some time but pay he will.
Schumer is mean and ugly inside and out and never has this back stabbing .
Things change January 3. Looking forward to such changes in the Senate.
They never learn do they? So far removed from the people, the criminal culture on both sides is alive and well and will never end until there is a commission indictments and prosecutions from Obama and Clinton down sprinkled with some rhinos
For now.
“Good point!”

Yeah - when the Dems sandblast every trace of Robert Byrd down the memory hole, they can get back to me.
“So Hillary knew Sen. Bryd she should have never been confirmed.”

More than a friend - her self-confessed mentor;
Today our country has lost a true American original, my friend and mentor Robert C. Byrd. Clinton also said that Byrd had been the heart of the U.S. Senate.”
Scott won his senate seat in SC due to White republicans voting for him. They voted for him for two reasons. They thought he was a conservative republican. I have a brother who has been in the Charleston area for 50 years and he told me that if Scott was ever elected he would be nothing but a closet democrat. Hes always played the race card. He was one of the first politicians in the state to call for Confederate flag to come down. He also slammed President Trump for his insensitive remarks after the riots in Charlottesville. If not for Trump supporters putting his sorry ass in office he would not be a US senator. Hopefully they show him the door when
reelection time comes.
“Mitchy is not very scary since he allows this type of back stabbing with no payback all the time .
Why he hasn’t removed Flake from all committees is my question .”
Chicom mcscrotum has been blocking the MAGA agenda and protecting the mueller coup against Trump. Mitch voted for Hillary.
The GOP is a completely FAKE party. 95% of them TOTAL F#$@ing SCUMBAGS who genuflect to the corrupt state and fluff the demoncrats.
Very disappointing. Thoughts?
I don’t know what Farr wrote, but I do know that if he wrote some generalized statement about blacks that it might be viewed differently by a black person than by you or me. Senator Scott is a conservative, but he’s also black. If a senator does not vote fir a judicial nominee because he honestly questions whether the nominee might hold racial animus, that does not make such senator any less conservative. I save my vitriol for senators who vote against a nominee because such nominee is conservative, which certainly is not the case with Senator Scott, who has voted for every one of President Trump’s judicial nominees (all of whom were vetted by the Federalist Society for conservative views) other than the two who had written things that made Senator Scott question whether they have racial animus.
If Scott and Flaje are the only Republicans to oppose Farr, then the new Senate can confirm him in January. Of course, other Republicans might withhold support for Farr now that Scott, whose opinion they respect and whom they know doesn’t use accusations of racism as an excuse to oppose conservatives, has come out against the nomination. So we’ll see whether Farr ends up with the seat, or whether another conservative gets it. We will have 53 Republicans in the Senate on January 3 (and Flake won’t be one of them), and Trump’s judicial nominations have been excellent, so I am confident that a conservative judge will fill that seat.
