Ukraines Parliament voted Monday to declare martial law in areas bordering Russia, responding to an attack a day earlier by Russian forces who fired on and impounded three Ukrainian naval vessels, leaving several sailors wounded.
The action by Parliament, which called it a partial mobilization, takes effect Wednesday morning, will last for 30 days and represents a further escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Martial law - how democratic of them!
Getting sporty..NATO has an emergency meeting.
here we go, war between Ukraine and Russia
what would you do?
Ukrainians are caught between rock and hard place. Putin’s Russia beating them up on one end and then their own corrupt Poroshenko-led govt capitalizing on vulnerabilities just before a major contentious election.
Nothing about potentially a lot of people dying deserves such an exciting response.
I know it’s annoying to remember here, and I forget too often also, but we are mostly Christians and Jews here and should hope that none die in this situation or at the border.
What MUST be done, MUST be done.
I do not get happy or excited about the prospect.
OK, sometimes I do. And that’s when I REALLY need to take a step back. That’s when we all do.
Is Ukraine a country that enjoys shooting itself in the foot?
Yes, they do. They also love the taste of foot. I suspect they suffer from Restless Foot Syndrome and have to shoot themselves in the foot in order to be able to catch the then wounded foot and stuff it in their mouth.
Russia seizing their naval ships demands a response, or they should just surrender and turn over the country to Russia. Some provocations cannot be glossed over. Russia clearly intended it so. And no Ukraine is stuck between a rock and a hard place: escalate tensions and risk war or ignore the provocation and risk internal crisis and escalating external provocations. Probably the best bet is to play hardball and pray that other nations quickly step in to back them up.
As an American - absolutely nothing. I worry more about our own DOJ/CIA and people like John Brennan conducting coups and chaos right here in the USA.
Ukraine is no military match for Russia. I think this is a provocation manufactured by Putin to rip off another chunk of Ukraine.
Every year at this time something happens. Its budget time... we and others will as usual send them money now.
I’ll guarantee you that there will be a quick response, but it will only be overtly economic.
But this is a bridge too far. There will be a multi-faceted covert strategy aimed at Putin and Russia now.
I think they should board and inspect any Ukrainian ship that wants passage under the bridge until Ukraine publicly signs a treaty that promised they will not attack the Kerch Strait bridge and causeway.
So you figure they should wait until the Ukrainians do blow up a part of the causeway or the bridge, right?
Or, do you think everyone is supposed to know that whatever Ukraine promises is total bullshit and therefore ignore threats from the President of Ukraine and their head of the Defense Department equivilent?
Russians are liars of a contemptible stripe.
It’s Russians attacking Ukraine, sending in special forces (they suck), and illegally annexing Crimea...and this is their provocation. Obviously.
The Ukrainians are not unfamiliar with this sort of thing. My great grandparents escaped their sizable farm in the Ukraine back in the 1930s just before the Russians went through and pillaged it. This is been going on for centuries, and neither side is ever completely victorious.
Hot Ukrainian women need to come to the USA and be given immediate asylum.
I notice you completely ignored my question about waiting until the bridge is blown up in whole in in part, exactly like I expected a chicken crap blabbermouth to ignore it.
You're a useful idiot, a paid shill, or just stupid.
have a nice day
Ping.
