Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris, both members of the Judiciary Committee, called on the White House Monday to make a deal to fill court vacancies.

~snip~

They offered accepting Judge James Rogan, a Trump pick, as long as their choice — Judge Lucy Koh — is also confirmed. They also proposed that each party select a nominee from the other’s list to confirm.

My Bad, I've should have check first.

Abraham Lincoln? Mark Twain? Biblical Proverb? Maurice Switzer? Arthur Burns? John Maynard Keynes? Confucius? Anonymous?

See below.

https://quoteinvestigator.com/2010/05/17/remain-silent/

The earliest known appearance of the adage discovered by QI {QUOTE INVESTIGATOR} occurred in a book titled “Mrs. Goose, Her Book” by Maurice Switzer. The publication date was 1907 and the copyright notice was 1906. The book was primarily filled with clever nonsense verse, and the phrasing in this early version was slightly different: 5

It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.

Most of the humorous content of “Mrs. Goose, Her Book” has the imprint of originality, and based on currently available data QI believes that Maurice Switzer is the leading candidate for originator of the expression. This 1906 citation was also given in “The Dictionary of Modern Proverbs”, an indispensable new reference work from Yale University Press. 6

>>Yea, but according to that witch or is it that bitch on Joy Behar on The View, “Republicans won the U.S. Senate seats only because of Gerrymandering.” <<

Gerrymandering Senate seats?? She can’t possibly be that stupid, can she?? Or did I miss it when the state boundaries changed?

Are the republicans planning to remove Murkowski and Collins from the Judiciary Committee?

Otherwise we can indeed find ourself in the whole FLAKE situation anew next time.

Yes, they and Romney can’t stop it on the floor, but they can play with the committee recommendations

Oh it is to laugh.

Seriously, Lucy f*ck nutter Koh? No Shranks!

On January 20, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Koh on the recommendation of California Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California vacated by judge Ronald M. Whyte, who assumed senior status in 2009.[5] On March 4, 2010, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to move her nomination to the full Senate.[9] The Senate confirmed Koh in a 90–0 vote on June 7, 2010.[10] She received her commission on June 9, 2010.[6]

On February 25, 2016, President Obama nominated Koh to serve as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, to the seat vacated by Judge Harry Pregerson, who took senior status on December 11, 2015.[11][12] On July 13, 2016 a hearing on her nomination was held before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary.[13] On September 15, 2016 her nomination was reported out of committee by a vote of 13–7. Her nomination expired on January 3, 2017, with the end of the 114th Congress.[6]

My choices would be Sykes, Pryor, and Thapar-in that order.

Thapar would make the feminists heads explode right after their Kavanaugh debacle, especially if he finally drives a stake through Title IX.

I have a feeling Barrett is going to get the nod though for political reasons.

If you want to get The Wall, you’re gonna have to give something.

That’s just reality. Period.

You’re kidding, right? The democrats have no intention of giving us the wall. And anyone paying attention to how democrats behave, knows that they will give us NOTHING, no matter WHAT we give them. Fair play is not in their vocabulary.

“Are the republicans planning to remove Murkowski and Collins from the Judiciary Committee?”
___________________

No, they aren’t planning on removing them from the Judiciary Committee. Do you know why? Because they aren’t members of the Judiciary Committee.

Currently, the Senate Judiciary Committee has 21 members, 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats, in a Senate that has 51 Republicans and 49 Democrats. Before RAT Doug Jones won the AL Senate election, the GOP margin in the Senate was 52-48 and there were 11 Republicans and 9 Democrats on the Judiciary Committee. Assuming that the GOP wins the MS runoff in a few weeks, Republicans will have a 53-47 Senate majority. With that advantage, I think that the Senate Judiciary Committee should have 12 Republicans and 9 Democrats starting on January 3.

Republicans have a majority in the Senate and there is no reason at all to cater to the Dems. Especially after what they did the last time.
