Truman's economic policies were flat-out retarded. "New Deal Part II", tried to take over the entire health care and educational system at the time, promoted price controls, supported a permanent active warfare State (Contrary to what Founders envisioned), seized steel mills, kicked-started the 1950s recessions..., come on now.

Only situation that saved the US at the time was a bombed out and depleted Europe which needed to be rebuilt. Between the economic demands of FDR's policies/regulations and Truman's continued big government plans, stuff was getting worse.
