LAS CRUCES Doña Ana County elections officials resumed counting absentee ballots this morning, with the race for a hotly contested southern New Mexico-based congressional district seat hanging in the balance.
Republican Yvette Herrell holds a lead of 1,972 votes over Democrat Xochitl Torres Small in the 2nd Congressional District with more than 186,000 votes cast in the race, based on partial, unofficial returns.
At least 8,000 absentee ballots are not included in the final tally, according to Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda Lopez Askin.
In votes tallied so far, Torres Small has a decisive lead over Herrell in Doña Ana County 62 percent to 38 percent. If that trend holds, she could erase much, if not all, of Herrells current lead.

Dems won all statewide races, including judges, in New Mexico. Both houses plus the governor will be Democrat controlled.

It sounds like New Mexico went Full Sh*thole.
I wonder what the results would look like without the illegal vote.
Democrats will have a hard time making up 1972 votes out of around 8000 absentees left to count without fraud, but they are pros at that.
Build the wall!
It is amazing how this continues to happen.
The bipartisan board has help counting the ballots by hand from an additional 10 members, split between Republican and Democratic party members, who were deputized this morning by the county clerk.
It serves two purposes: It creates that transparency and partnership thats important in fair elections, Lopez Askin said.
Seems like all the close races have a republican barely leading?
“I wonder what the results would look like without the illegal vote.”
Probably not much difference given the filthy liberals in Sante Fe, Las Cruces and Albuquerque.
XOCHITL TORRES SMALL (DEM) 99,440
YVETTE HERRELL (REP) 96,712
Dem wins :>((
Dem Torres Small wins.
Crap.
Yep.
I figured it would be like that when Dona Ana County wouldn’t report the vote last night like every other county did. Needed time to manufacture enough votes.... Notice that the percentages for each almost exactly swapped between this morning and this afternoon.
Horrible campaign by Harrell (and nearly every other Republican in NM races). Way to turn a reliable ‘red’ district blue.
Pearce should have stayed where he was....
That Marxist woman is going to open her own Welcome Wagon for illegals once the new Marxist president of Mexico kicks in his “Turn Mexico into Venezuela” agenda.
XOCHITL is an Aztec name and she’s all for the “Reconquista”.
This is bad news.
Agree. This is the second time Pearce has tried to be a Don Quixote with twice the same result. However, if we get a decent candidate in 2020 we should retake it.
Time to pack my bags and head for ‘REDer’ pastures. I have met some very fine people here in New Mexico and one of the best Evangelical Christian churchs in American, but now that I am retired its time to get the hell out of the ‘Democratic Peoples Republic of Eastern California’ before they start building the gulags.
I will say I agree with this quote from one of Tony Hillerman’s novels I don’t remember with one: “I will give you this you got some pretty place here, but they are awfully far apart.”

Based on KKOB AM this morning, Torres Small made a 5,000-vote swing with 8,000 absentee ballots. She was behind by 2,000, and went on to win by 3,000. Bovine excrement.
If they counted all 8,000, to take a 3,000 vote lead after being behind by 2,000 votes, she'd have had to take 81.25% of those ballots (R had X. D had X-2,000 on Tuesday night).
A 2,000-vote deficit leaves 6,000 total ballots after bringing her even with the R.
Then D goes ahead by 3,000. From 6,000, that leaves 3,000. Out of that 3,000, R and D split evenly in order for D to maintain 3,000-vote lead. That means the D got 6,500 out of 8,000 votes from those absentee ballots that were left. That's 81.25% in a county where she averaged around 68%.
This was all from Dona Ana County which is Las Cruces. It’s obvious that Torres Small supporters, or outsiders paid with money from the far left libs, went throughout the area registering everyone they could find, likely poor Hispanics, legal or illegal, and providing them with absentee ballot applications. It would be interesting to see how many of those ballots show down ballot picks or just top of the ballot choices.
