Trump accomplished what he did because he had to defend himself and project. He intimated this during the interview. The headline is in need of some clarification. It’s not exactly the truth on it’s own.
He did say he would be working on tone during the next two years, but he also said that if he had tried to use better tone during the first two years, he would have run the danger of being swamped. They media’s tone against him was in full on attack mode for two years.
Has anyone asked the media if they regret their tone? Are they planning on working on their tone over the next few years?

Remember when he said he's not responsible if Republicans lose the House?
The man covers his bases and this is no exception. If the Dims win the House, of course he's going to be cutting deals with them to get his agenda passed. Because Paul Ryan sure as Hell haven't done anything to help Trump other than pass obligatory tax cuts.
