CAIRO – Islamic militants on Friday ambushed two buses carrying Christian pilgrims on their way to a remote desert monastery south of the Egyptian capital of Cairo, killing seven and wounding up to 16, according to the Interior Ministry and security officials.
Coptic Orthodox Church spokesman Boulos Halim said the death toll was likely to rise. Local church officials in Minya province where the attack took place put the death toll at 10, but the higher figure could not be confirmed.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which bore the hallmarks of Islamic militants who have for years been fighting security forces in the Sinai Peninsula and along Egypt's porous desert border with Libya. The extremist Islamic State group has repeatedly stated its intention to target Egypt's Christians as punishment for their support of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi who, as defense minister, led the military's 2013 ouster of an Islamist president, whose one-year rule proved divisive.

El-Sissi wrote on his Twitter account that Friday's attack was designed to harm the "nation's solid fabric" and pledged to continue fighting terrorism.
Friday's attack is the second to target pilgrims heading to the St. Samuel the Confessor monastery in as many years. The previous attack in May 2017 left nearly 30 people dead. It is also the latest in a deadly string of attacks that targeted churches in Cairo, the Mediterranean city of Alexandria and Tanta in the Nile Delta north of the capital.

This is very coincidental to Turkey attacking the Kurds in Northern Syria who are close to eliminating ISIS along the Eastern Border. They have suspended their assault to protect their homes from a Turkish invasion. This is the 2nd time Turkey caused the suspension, that first was when they invaded Efrin (Afrin) That invasion included 3,000 ISIS fighters who were put in the Turkish invasion force. I've read that 700 ISIS fighters have re-badged and are included in Turkish forces preparing to invade Northern Syria East of the Euphrates. Near Manbij and Kobane.
And don't forget our assault from South and Central America. Is that also a coincidence?
Turkey wants to protect ISIS, they want to divide the Anti-ISIS Coalition forces. Divide US from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Israel. And in the Americas, divide the US from Guatemala and Honduras Government and other friendly countries.
The bad guys seem to be united against the United States.
