MINYA, Egypt (AP) -- Hundreds of Egyptian Christians attended a funeral service Saturday after seven people were killed in an ambush by Islamic State militants of buses carrying pilgrims to a remote desert monastery.
The service at Prince Tadros church in the central city of Minya was held amid tight security. Minya's top cleric, Anba Makarios, led prayers over a row of six white coffins, all victims from the same family. A separate funeral was held for the seventh victim, a bus driver.
Relatives of the victims cried and held each other for support. Some rested their heads on the coffins and wept. A list of the victims' names released by the church said a 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were among the dead. Nineteen were wounded in the attack, according to the church.
Aida Shehata, who was shot in her legs, said masked men opened fire on three buses from different directions. Two of the buses were able to speed away and reach the monastery, but the militants stopped the third one and killed the driver and six of the passengers, including her husband and his brother.

May God Bless the dead and injured; Comfort and Protect the survivors and families.
May the end of the Great Evil called ISIS be near.
ISIS won’t die or be destroyed. It will just, at the right time, morph into another organization.
It will end when the right time comes.
That is true.
That has been the pattern with Islam since it’s inception.
It needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century or exterminated.
Copts should be granted asylum and citizenship here. THEY understand the nature if the BEAST and can educate effete Americans on the monsters we are tolerating here.
Now is a good time.
Cut off their military aid.
Why do the Christians continue to be victim’s?
Weapon up! Do not wait to be a victim. Fight for yourself and ur faith!
Save Thy people, O Lord,
and bless Thine inheritance.
Grant victory to Thy Church over her enemies,
and protect Thy people by Thy Holy Cross!
Leeyakun thikruha muabadan
Some have. In Syria the they are (I know people in teh MFS/HSNB):
Militias affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF):
Syriac Military Council (MFS)
Bethnahrin Womens Protection Forces (HSNB)
Syriac Security Office (Sutoro)
Militias affiliated with the Assad-led Syrian government:
Gozarto Protection Force (Sootoro)
(*I am not familiar with individuals in the Assad affiliated Christians. They tend to be close to Damascus. I have had conversations with some of their church leaders, my impression is the church leaders want to negotiate with the existing government. Top down decision making. You see that divide within the Assyrian cultural elements. Both top down and bottom up exist, and they have issues over it. which is understandable.)
May their Memory be Eternal!!!!
the Islamic State is Wahabbi - the source of Wahabbi is Saudi Arabia. But the ultimate source is Islam. There will always be these senseless murders as long as Islam abounds.
President Sisi has asked the Egyptian clerics (whatever they call themselves) if it is possible for a “reformation” to take place in the Muslim world.
There have been those who gave lip service to that, but you are correct. As long as they base it on what was written, it will be a problem. (The persecution of the Alevi’s is based upon their advocation of eliminating this insanity)
Egyptians are not Arabs. Possibly 10% of Egypt is Christian. Some conversions are taking place. I know some.
It is still against the law.
Many of the people in Egypt know it is insane to do these Jihadi beheadings, rapes and mass slaughter. But the true believers still read that it’s so. Egyptian Muslims are not generally Wahabbi.
I do have a few Christian friends in Egypt. We’ve had this type of conversation. They are careful about it. Have also had this type of conversation with Syrian friends. Again only when it is signaled they want to discuss it. It is unsafe for them in many places.
What you are asking for is for the Muslims to throw out the Sirah, hadiths and much of the Quran (in fact all of the Medina (later) verses of the Quran)
It's not possible
you must realize that the comparison is not JESUS and MOHAMMAD but for Muslims it is
They consider the Quran to be the eternal, uncreated Word of God (just as Christians consider this to be Jesus). So there can be no changing in any way as you can't change the Word of Allah.
Sisi is ok. Egyptians are not Arab, correct, neither are syrians or Iraqis; but they are heavily Arabized.
I am sure at some level what you say is true. Many Muslims don’t examine that. They that they are simply good people. Some are. Many are not.
Some like the Alevi’s threw out what they found offensive and kept enough to keep the crazies from killing them. At some point that no longer worked and they had to run or be killed.
Have a good evening. I must rest now. It was a long day yesterday at the polls and today was busy too.
Another time we can continue.
