A few months ago, when discussing overall immigration policy, I wrote: There is no greater disconnect from ordinary Americans -on any singular issue- than the policy positions of Democrats and Republicans in Washington DC surrounding immigration. President Donald Trump is confronting their unified interests. The reaction from Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is directly related to this truism:
The top Republican tells WVLK radio in Kentucky, Well you obviously cannot do that. You cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order.
Ryans comments Tuesday offered a rare challenge to the president from his own party. [ ] Ryan says Republicans didnt like when then-President Barack Obama tried changing immigration laws via executive action. He says obviously as conservatives we believe in the Constitution.
Ryan is retiring but the No. 3 House Republican, Louisianas Rep. Steve Scalise, said on Fox that hes glad Trump is considering options.

That’s a trick question, he didn’t register on the bell curve.
Simply because limp wristed liberal Republicans say you cant do something, doesnt mean it shouldnt be done. On the contrary, its usually the opposite. What Trump has done is he is attempting to turn off the big magnet for illegal immigration. Even if his EO fails, and theres no reason it should if the Constitution is followed faithfully, then he has drawn attention to it in the mind of everyday Americans.
Foreigners who have babies here, are not subject to our jurisdiction but that of their countries of origin, and that applies to their babies as well.

Always has.
That’s why the children of foreign nationals can never be natural born citizens of the United States of America.
(That’s also how Ted Cruz got American citizenship even though born in Canada.)
His Chamber of Commerce masters pay him real money to say stuff like this.
I hate hate this oxygen user.
“He is wrong.”
I don’t think he is. How and when was “born in the USA” adopted as the definition of citizenship? I don’t recall that the POTUS, any POTUS, ever had the determining say in that. Changing that definition will take more than a Presidential Proclamation or Executive Order. It may take a Constitutional Amendment, Congressional Legislation, or at least a US Supreme Court Decision clarifying the question.
You could be right. The issue of birthright citizenship is vague enough and controversial enough that Pres. Trump and Speaker Ryan think it would be useful to bring it up, have it discussed and have it resolved, be it by legislation, SCOTUS interpretation or Constitutional Amendment. An Executive Order could set the procedures in motion.
Does he? I don't trust Roberts. Not even a little bit.
Eddie Muster about as useless as tits on a hog.
There should be an “Alito-Based” Constitution Course that is required before anyone can run for any office that requires a pledge to uphold the Constitution...
OOOOPS - meant to use Scalia’s name and had a bout of senescence...
“Illegal aliens are subject to the jurisdiction of other countries, and not of our country. That is why they can be deported.”
Thanks. I understand now. A baby I suppose is considered property of, or part of, the parent, so the baby is also subject to ...
What’s the argument of those, such as Paul Ryan, who say the babies are citizens?
“You could be right. The issue of birthright citizenship is vague enough and controversial enough...”
________
I refer you to post #54. Those are the words of the 14th Amendment’s author. Therefore, the “Original Intent” is quite clear.
Nothing vague about it.

It's no coincidence that when you look at a bell curve, the left is where the idiots are.
yup, had no problem with rule by pen & phone
Ryan is a nincompoop, a Rino, who doesn't want to stir the pot. He parrots the Democrat line in order to make those babies into future voters. He is simply wrong but has decided which camp he is in.
