A few months ago, when discussing overall immigration policy, I wrote: There is no greater disconnect from ordinary Americans -on any singular issue- than the policy positions of Democrats and Republicans in Washington DC surrounding immigration. President Donald Trump is confronting their unified interests. The reaction from Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is directly related to this truism:
The top Republican tells WVLK radio in Kentucky, Well you obviously cannot do that. You cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order.
Ryans comments Tuesday offered a rare challenge to the president from his own party. [ ] Ryan says Republicans didnt like when then-President Barack Obama tried changing immigration laws via executive action. He says obviously as conservatives we believe in the Constitution.
Ryan is retiring but the No. 3 House Republican, Louisianas Rep. Steve Scalise, said on Fox that hes glad Trump is considering options.

But now he pretends he understands the Constitution.
He doesn't.
He is wrong.
if you’ve interpreted the birthright citizenship wrong all these years and if it was only for Slaves in the US
Birthright citizenship was NEVER constitutional for people here illegally.
Won’t miss you when you’re gone, Paul.
Pres Trump can tweak it. Not eliminate it. His tweaking it, however, can make is so painful that it’s not worth doing.
Si, se puede.
Tucker had a great piece about how knee-jerk Ryan’s “obviously” response was. Even though he’s on his way out, he sees that cheap-labor express scratch that’s made him such a rich man being threatened.
Ryan is correct but is being a political butthead.
He knows damn well the EO is designed to get the argument to SCOTUS, and he knows damn well current interpretation of the 14th does not follow the spirit of the amendment.
......quacked the lame duck.
RINO Ryan should take that up with Mark Levin, ya think?
Better yet Trump has the votes in the SCOTUS now to make it law. You know like Roe vs. Wade. Settled.
Shut up Ryan.
Go away.
Citizenship issues get us back to the Constitution and its history. If some federal law can be reasonably shown to be a wrong interpretation of the Constitution then it can be corrected.
I am starting to think Lindsay Graham could whip this yahoo.
But now he pretends he understands the Constitution.
He doesn’t.

Oh yes he does. He just doesn’t care. The man is making his bank by being a liar and a scumbag.
What a bass pole.
He wants to spend time with his kids.
Right.
Maybe if his kids live on K Street.
POS.
Roe V wade will not be overturned but this on may.
Thank you, you already posted what I was going to write. You have to start the process somewhere and that is just what President Trump is doing.
Congress can only be improved by his permanent absence.
