I hope whoever is hosting FR is more resistant to this kind of pressure.
Blatant and obvious election meddling. Gab has also apparently been given a deadline.

Well, that did not take long.
What ever happened to Kim Dot Com raving about starting a Free Speech replacement for Twatter?
The posters on Gab the past few days were destroying the media’s narrative on the PVC Pipe Bomber as well as the narrative of blaming the synagogue shooter on Trump today. The timing is impeccable exactly 10 days before election day.
Hello 1984.
If the internet gets yanked out from under Free Republic, we might have to think of old technology like having group talk sessions via telephone.
But if the tech czars go full Nazi on us, maybe we will have to end up meeting in person in local churches or American Legion halls.
I hope the outlook isn’t THAT bad. But to have no internet access would be quite a handicap nowadays.
So it will become all too easy to deny that Bowers was anti-Trump and anti-Q, since his Gab posts demonstrating those facts will soon be inaccessible, until well after the election.
Obvious when these Lunatics go on their sprees of violent behavior they’re giving cause for the noose to get even tighter on social media and the like.
On the other hand people think they can just spew garbage across the portholes of social media, as well as the Internet entire, with no common sense at all.
I would rate the Internet pretty much an X rated trap because these clowns put their stuff everywhere.
I read this and decided to do a quick write up to spread word via my blog.
Its not nice out there for free speech tonight and I hope people defend their principles without hating or blaming people for this shut down.
No silence about this wrongdoing, but no violence either.
Like the tagline says:
“Freedom is everybodys business”
The man who said that had his radio station shut down by the FCC on “Fairness Doctrine” grounds in the 1970’s.
The stuff that angered his liberal opponents included a man calling in to a talk show and reading to the host of that show a poem about being a dog and relieving himself on the graves of various personalities including Dr. Martin Luther King.
The media may be different today, but the First Amendment is still with us, still under attack and its worth defending even if we may not agree with what others are saying.
Geez, what kind of car did the shooter drive that can now lose their financial lifeline and be banned? This is going to cost the conspirators zillions I bet.
Okay, I now did some reading on the Internet about why Gab is being shut down. They deserve it as they have been post extremist hate and violence. I am a bit surprised to see FReepers defending the likes of Bowers, cheering the site for hosting him. It didn’t take a lot of searching and reading to see that Gab has a history of this and only threats of being shutdown have gotten them to clean up their act. We all, well a lot of us, criticize Facebook and Twitter for what they allow, yet here some FReepers defend it for someone else? Is violence against Jews okay? That’s a very, very big change for FR.

I was ready to buy a small couple shares of stock. Then began thinking about a good idea from Victor Computer years ago. They just could not get their foot in the door. Hopefully there’s bandwidth for gab.
Gab.ai could use bitmitigste.net as a DDS host running behind a Volxility.net cloud data center. Other free-speech sites use a similar arrangement, especially if on a tight budget. I think that’s what www.voat.com uses. They’d be better off switching to a ***.name registration to have a safe domain cloud. At least I hope that’s how Gab goes forward, or something similar.
There is a reason Tim Berners-Lee is trying to reinvent the Web with his new Solid-Inrupt startup: to return it to a free Internet.
Again.
One thing is for sure, if people haven’t heard of Gab before now, they will by the end of day tomorrow or Monday.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS REAL
(for ~1.8% of the US population)
