If the internet gets yanked out from under Free Republic, we might have to think of old technology like having group talk sessions via telephone.
But if the tech czars go full Nazi on us, maybe we will have to end up meeting in person in local churches or American Legion halls.
I hope the outlook isn’t THAT bad. But to have no internet access would be quite a handicap nowadays.
If that happens, conservatism will be dead - because it would be like the French Army when the Germans rolled them up in 1940. The French had what were widely regarded as the best tanks, the best artillery and some of the best aircraft in the world. What they didn’t have were widespread radio communication. The Germans slaughtered this superior force by the simple expedient of being able to change and adapt their plans as EVERY German tank and airplane had radios as did most larger infantry formations.
If your enemy has access to modern comms and you don’t, you lose. Check into the history of modern resistance movements since WW1 - there has never been a successful resistance since 1911 against a popular government (read: cowed/conned/sedated populace) that had media controls without massive outside technical and monetary assistance. Where would conservatives get assistance from outside the US?
