The Middle East is a cesspit.
And very few Westerners understand it, or the reasons for its seemingly irrational importance in world affairs.

If you get your news from the media, then you will have heard that Jamal Khashoggi was a heroic reform who sought freedom for the region, and was brutally murdered to the strains of hip-hop music by a legion of Saudi assassins. And it was all recorded on his Apple Watch.
If you're interested in the facts, instead of the fake news, you probably already know that Jamal Khashoggi was a Muslim Brotherhood leader and an old friend of Osama bin Laden.
He's being mourned by the media that backed the Muslim Brotherhood.

It’s a crazy story. I won’t excuse any of those beliefs and connections. Though to be fair, I think he was friendly with Bin Laden back when they were fighting the Russians. And I still don’t know if death by dismemberment in an embassy basement is the appropriate punishment - unless I am missing something about his direct involvement in more serious crimes eg terror or murder. As I wrote before, if he was being seditious they could have extradited and tried him for that.
Curiously, he was working in the SA embassy in Washington DC until just a few weeks before 9/11. For those into 9/11 conspiracies it’s a little factoid especially if you add in the suspicion that he was also a CIA agent.
We may never know the whole truth. This could very easily be the Crown Prince overreaching, settling an old score. The stories of how he shook down many of SAs wealthiest people - well it frightened a lot of SAs wealthiest. And in some ways he was justified in that he claimed it was an anti-corruption crusade. You can’t do business in SA without taking on an SA citizen partner and some of the insiders took full advantage of that law and may have avoided paying “full tribute to the king” as it were. Rounding them up in a luxury hotel prison - it skirted western norms usually you have to be charged with a crime but in this case he just rounded them up, allegedly beat them into submission until they paid for their freedom. One of those high ranking Princes Alwaleed Talal who has made a large fortune investing in US technology and enterprise had to fork over about 1/3 of his wealth to buy his freedom.
Anyway the point is we know the Crown Prince MBS is the defacto ruler. And the buck should stop with him. But there have been killings and assassinations within those inner circles in the past. The SA king was assassinated in the mid 1970s. So we may never know if this was MBS overreaching, or some kind of move by anti-MBS forces to put in him a bad light both inside and outside in an attempt to force him out.
It also sounds like a long overdue payback. Someone targeted him, perhaps an old grudge due to his connections from long ago and perhaps exacerbated by his anti-MBS writings. And from the reports, he was worried about this kind of thing (death or rendition) as he supposedly sought assurances that the Embassy in Ankara would be a safe place to pick up his divorce papers.
I agree with what many Freepers have written, the media pushing this as the latest grab bag of baloney to throw at Trump. They should be way more outraged about the murders of Americans at the hands of illegal immigrants; and hell even some state executions are an embarrassment. Remember when Clinton came in 3rd place in the 1992 NH primary - he felt he needed to look more butch so he flew to AR in capacity as Governor to oversee the execution of a mentally retarded man. Some civil libertarians on the left decried that move at the time, today those types of people are mostly infected with TDS and couldn’t find a principle if they had every book on ethics and religion at their fingertips. It’s all saying whatever they think they can use for political advantage without regard any consistency to their past statements or any guiding principles except the principle of political power.
At the same time there is at least some legitimate argument to be made about what types of diplomatic relations we should have with countries based on their social and judicial order. Realpolitik though gives SA wide berth due to dependency on oil.
Someone on VOAT floated the theory that it really WAS the Saudis. But it was from those whom MBS has been trying to purge. The goal is to force MBS out of power.
Lindsey Graham and others screaming for his removal is both bizarre and suspicious at the same time.
I'm confident the President and Pompeo can detect a Deep State move. JMHO...
Yeah, it’s hard to say what happened so far away.
We can’t trust the liberal media to tell us what happened in Portland.
Or even in our other major cities.

No wonder the media wants us to got to war over his death. Forget it. I hate the Saudis but Trump should not get sucked into this for the wrong reasons.
Every point you’ve made is absolutely true, and President Trump’s supporters should demand that he cite these facts as to why he will NOT let this jihadist’s assassination adversely influence our country’s foreign policy in the Middle East.
The chapter you quote was before Jesus. Christians read the entire Bible, but; the birth of the Son to his death and the work of his disciples after His death is what I buy.
The war over Jerusalem is coming. I’m not saying the Church is here for that part. I’m just saying it is coming.
And then there’s my FR homepage....
Amazing who he works for. Why did we even take this Muslim punk in as he is not an MD.
As I recall, Al Waleed Talal was the guy whose strings-attached "donation" was rightfully rejected by Giuliani after 9/11.
Oooh that’s a bingo!
He put the $10 million check in an envelope, with a letter of condolences. And he attached to the letter an idiotic press release that said something like “At times like these we must address some of the issues that lead to terrorism, including US policies in the middle east and an imbalanced stance against the Palestinian cause. Our Palestinian brothers continue to be slaughtered by Israelis while the world looks away.”
New York City should give him a $10 million check with a note that says “please ask your king to stop bombing Yemeni school buses”.
