Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) believes the Republicans will maintain their majority in the House through the November midterm electionsachieving that victory is priority number one he said during an interview with Townhall.
If that mission is accomplished, Rep. Jordan hopes to succeed outgoing Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as the next Speaker of the Houseand if hes successful in his bid for the Speakership, his objective is to follow through on that which voters were promised, he explained, to do what we said.
This entails exercising the political will to fight for the issues that American citizens elected them to fight for and it also involves reforming issues related to process, according to Rep. Jordan.
The House Republican Steering Committees current top-down model concentrates too much power in just a few peoples hands and it should be changed into a bottom-up model Rep. Jordan explained.
There would be a higher likelihood of passing policies consistent with what you were elected to do if in fact its a bottom-up grassroots model, not one controlled just by a few people at the top, he said.
Rep. Jordan believes that each member of the Steering Committee should only have one vote and each member on the Committee should be elected to the Committeebut currently some members wield the power of weighted votes and some of the members are not elected to the committee.

I hope voters will turn out and reelect him.
VOTE!
Never have I seen so many Garrett signs before.
I have to recheck the primary numbers to assure myself.
Jordan is trying to undercut McCarthy by promising greater autonomy to committee chairman. A lot of chairman incline RINO and might not be willing to gamble that they would preserve their power under a more conservative GOP majority and would compromise first by supporting Jordan who would leave them in their chairs.
I like Jim J., he’s a fighter.
.
It doesn’t sound like that when I listen to Jordan.
We don’t know exactly who his chairmen will be.
Straight up, McCarthy would win in a walk. Jordan has to be especially shrewd.
.
McCarthy is ‘conservative’ on some issues important to me, but he has some big soft spots, like on the border.
I trust Jordan more for sure. I’m just not sure that he has tipped his hand that far.
Just remember that if the Republicans keep it, the new Speaker will be nominated shortly after the election by the lame duck House. Election of the new Speaker will be in January.
I like him too - I just wish he’d put on a jacket once in a while.
You knew the Dems REALLY don’t want him as Speaker when they tried to pull a sex smear stunt on him a couple of months ago - claimed he was an enabler of a pedophile. Didn’t work, of course.
