As the videos from last weekend’s protest in Portland have gone viral, namely due to the dereliction of duty on the part of the Portland police allowing the violent leftist mob to take over the city, one particular video has caught the attention of police and Multnomah County district attorney Rod Underhill.
The video in question shows a man in a silver car getting caught up in the protest. Apparently fearing for his safety, the man starts to drive through the protest. One genius decides he’s going to jump in front of the car and try to stop it, as other members of the mob converge on the car, shouting obscenities at the driver and beating on his car. The driver eventually made it through, but stopped at the red light up the block. There, the protesters chased him down, smashed a window out in his car, and started threatening him. Now police are encouraging the protesters to come forward as “victims” so they can charge the driver of the car with crimes. So, like the city is gonna hand out honorable mention awards to the “aunt teefuh” folks that risked their lives trying to direct traffic then?

In this situation, had the driver been armed, seems like he might have been justified in using it, when they were beating on his car and smashing windows.
(Don’t know the self-defense laws in Oregon.)
But now he’s likely to be arrested and charged, for trying to escape the assault.

ONE of those pedestrians was brandishing a baton and swacked the car after the driver got back in...
the driver was very lucky to be able to drive off.

It sounds like Portland has been occupied by the enemy. Standing against the mob (or, even worse, fighting back) is forbidden!

I saw the video and it also shows a motorcycle cop sitting up the road watching the whole thing. Most likely had orders to stand down. The mayor lets antifa do whatever they want including taking over a few city blocks and routing cars around it. Meanwhile, I would imagine there’s some sort of law on the books that says only police can direct traffic.
Guess what: out of control unethical prosecutors like Rod Underhill are subject to the canons of professional responsibility just as much as practicing attorneys are.
Should Underhill indict, complaints should pour into the state bar’s disciplinary office. Oregon makes it easy; complaints can be submitted on-line:

Always count on the police to come down on the side of the fascists, never on the side of those trying to secure their freedom. Has it ever been any other way?
