CNN is shining a light on three of the “most consequential races” in 2018 — including the Texas bid for U.S. Senate — through debates or town halls in the coming weeks.
But Texans won’t get to see incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso face off in this series.
“Sen. Ted Cruz (R) declined CNN’s invitation to participate in the town hall,” a CNN statement noted.
So O’Rourke will be featured in a live, one-hour town hall with CNN Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash in South Texas on Oct. 18.
The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond Tuesday afternoon to a request on why the senator will not participate.
The solo town hall will air at 9 p.m. central time Oct. 18 and be televised from the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

A fair debate challenge is simple:
Make challenge public. Advertise it.
Equal time. NO moderator. No holds barred.
CNN town hall? More like a mob rules convention!
This should be called an in-kind donation that violates the limits of the donations to campaigns.

Agreed, maybe Hannity can offer to do a FOX debate.

He doesn’t trust CNN. With good reason. Refusing to show, however, is a mistake imho.
It wrankles a bit that Cruz walked out of CNN’s Townhall. I’d like to see Cruz best him in the format.
But it may be for the best. CNN wasn’t going to give Cruz a fair shake. If Cruz detected a set up, he’s probably right.
Now, a guy with an Irish surname has to explain why everyone voting for him calls him Beto
CNN gets the plant attack questions from the audience and Beto the beta likely already had his attack ad written for him ahead of time.
Cruz just needs a real debate format.
Good, Cruz finally showing the same kind of balls as Trump.
The Fake News C*N are an embarrassment and disgrace and drag all who go on their terrible shows down to their level.
AND, a national LIEberal audience will have the opportunity to hear Beto LIE a LOT!
Wouldn’t it be more fitting if he called himself Pedro O’Rourke?

That’ll be awesome! CNN’s rating suck out loud as it is and this isn’t going to help!
