A veteran California broadcast journalist has resigned after writing a 400-word Facebook post last month defending then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from sexual assault allegations.
Kris Long had been off the air at CBS affiliate KESQ-TV in Palm Springs since the Sept. 17 post appeared, the Desert Sun reported.
On Friday he offered his resignation.
“I want to thank those who have offered support and apologize again for any I may have offended,” Long said in a written statement. “I hope to return to the news business in the future.”

Christine Blasey Ford came forward in September with an allegation that Kavanaugh tried to sexually assault her at a party in high school. They both both testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on the matter last month and the FBI conducted a limited investigation.

But it's not a wise move to do when your job is supposed to be an objective reporter of the news, as a news anchor.

I think the "objective reporter" label has mostly disappeared, and that's bad for all of us.

Given the current direction at Fox, he would not fit in. The Murdoch “kids” are Marxists, and now that Daddy has given them the keys to Fox, you will watch it deteriorate to just another Liberal news outlet.
I 100% agree with what you wrote. All these Republican who are expressing sympathy for Ford are doing the country a disservice. Ford is nothing more that a RAT operative, but not a very good one.

I haven't watched any TV news since Trump won the GOP nomination.
Tired of watching what they wanted me to hear and believe, not necessarily what the facts were.
Now I just read my news from various sources and filter it myself to decide what to believe.
I still don't think it was a wise idea for this news anchor to write a partisan screed on Facebook, no matter who he supported, Ford or Kavanaugh.

Just this minute I had to turn off Fox News's Leland Whateverhisnameis, who was arguing with a Republican guest as though he was a sleazy democrat guest and NOT the host of the show, claiming that Trump divided the country more than any democrat. Couldn't believe my ears. Maybe this little punk is the weekend Shepherd Smith?
The ONLY truly Conservative commentator on Fox today is Lou Dobbs, with honorable mention going to Stuart Varney. These guys are the ONLY ones who don’t allow Liberal $hit disturbers to foul their programs. Tucker Carlson has some really good guests, but he “balances them off” with real crap weasels. He thinks good television is verbally trashing them. Note to Tucker, It isn’t and I use the remote or go take a bathroom break. Then there’s Hannity who can’t let his guests finish a cogent thought without interrupting them.
