The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination on Friday after Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) secured a deal to delay a floor vote on the nomination for a week.

He’s such a squish he blows with the wind.

I'm not so sure. This could be a big middle finger to Trump who hounded Flake out of politics. McStain's thumbs down betrayal is the model for this scenario. We have no idea how much lingering, stinging butthurt will affect Flake at this point.

He said he is a No unless they do the investigation.

Senator Flake does not care about an FBI investigation. He is doing somebody a favor and wants something in return.

Perhaps Flake was looking for some cushy lobbyist deal after his retirement from the Senate. And perhaps the deal fell through at the last minute.

Or maybe he was seeking immunity from prosecution for his yet unpublicized crimes.

What ever backroom deals are going on have nothing to do with whether Kavanagh should be confirmed. Holding out a critical vote is merely a negotiation for getting something else. It is a tactic with a very limited shelf-life.

“Grassely referred to it as a “gentlemens’ agreement” and it wasn’t in the resolution.”

There are gentlemen in the Democrat senatorial caucus? Could have fooled me.

I think the vote was held before Grassley responded to Flake.

Yes, it was. Flake came to the end of a sentence, and before he could take his next breath, Grassley banged the gavel and called for the committee vote.

He never even responded to Flake.

I’d love to see the President come to PA and campaign for Barletta ... if that happens, that means that PA is in play and the polls are nonsense.

I’m being as objective as possible saying this, but I think PA can be kicked into play with the proper resources. It won’t be easy, but I really think Casey can be beaten ... you simply need to make the lazy bastard attempt to work :-) .

Yeah... but more like a “reach around”.... not a “reach across”. SEE: R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket.

Flake has ZERO future, and we should make it so. A FRAUD Tea Party candidate who flipped immediately.

And, pardon FR, but this is part of the Vegas bag man from the Moron Tablenapkin Choir. The next Harry Reid under control of the Outfit (who make payments to the Gaming Board, run by these jacka@@es)— this clown was put over on loyal Tea Party grass roots people... and was and is a complete FRAUD.

Trump could wake Sessions and tell him and Wray to send agents out today to interview the parties involved and turn over the 302s from those interviews to McConnell by tomorrow morning.

I don't think the FBI even needs to do any interviews.

All of the named individuals involved in Ford's allegations have already filed sworn statements or given sworn testimony.

Absolutely this. No more “it’s just one more week” BS. Look how much damage the Dems did to this candidate the last time they got “just one more week.”

This nation is willing to put this family through absolute hell for this bullshit?

Quisling Flake said that this process is ripping the country apart (however, he wants to prolong the misery another week for the FIB to investigate unsubstantiated charges). I agree with previous posters, I think the RINO’s are screwed on this deal. As I see it, they only have one choice. Stand up and be patriots or bow down to their swamp overlords. The masks are falling away at this point, and we all see them for what they truly are. This is for all the marbles and the rule of law is being mocked. Our system of government can’t stand without patriots leading us. As for Democrat crossover votes for Judge Kavanaugh, don’t think there will be any if McConnell doesn’t have the fortitude to bring this charade to a halt. The Rats will have concrete proof that the Republican party is nothing but a paper tiger, and what incentive would they have to get on board?

All it is is Flake saying, “Investigate or else I vote ‘no’”

*************

He’s also saying something ugly and expressing his antipathy toward Donald Trump.

What do you want the President to do? He is not in the Senate. He is not in Congress. He is not micromanaging. He knows if he says too much the morons will vote th opposite.

Yeah no kidding.

Granted Roy Moore wasn’t the best candidate, but he’d at least vote with the rest of the Republicans.

Instead we have creepy doug Jones who WILL vote with the rest of the communists.

NO!

Lewis Powell and William Rehnquist were sworn in January 7, 1972
Clarence Thomas was sworn in October 23, 1991.
Neil Gorsuch was sworn in April 8, 2017.

Justices are sworn in mid term quite often. The court can reset and rehear for reargument cases that were tied prior to a new justice taking office.

You actually trust the FBI to exonerate Judge Kav now? Strzok and Page and McCabe and Rosenstein are the FBI! They will get Trump by any means necessary! Wake up people! The FBI is the enemy! Why do you think the Demonrats have been trying to get this in the FBI?

Did you actually read my post? First of all, you haven't been paying attention if you don't realize that the FBI doesn't exonerate. It gathers facts. Period. Therefore, I don't give a crap what the FBI does. I'm talking about US! A week gives us time to uncover all the stuff that's been conveniently scrubbed and covered up on the part of Dr. Ford. Discrediting her would put a stop to everything else and might even give Judge Kavanaugh a bit of his reputation back.

Make it a case of "be careful what you wish for".
